Over time, I've come to see the Vasquez pickup much more positively. When you look at backup PGs across the league, it's a weak bunch overall, and few, besides say Livingston and Cory Joseph (who I like), can be actually set up other players like Vasquez. And many backup PGs are undersized, so Vasquez really stands out for his size. He's slow but, hey, gotta give up something. Mills is quick and moves really well, but he's small. And besides Livingston and Smart, what backup PG is actually a reliable defender? Not gonna mention TJ, cuz that didn't work out.

Considering that Vasquez was plan B, it's a good move, especially given the limited alternatives.

Greivis is a good pickup, especially as a backup PG. He might be slow but he will make up for that in being able to run the offense and setup teammates, also has a jumper. Hopefully he is healthy and can get back to the level he wants to be.

Vasquez and Lin also played during the pre-draft workouts, and was on the Hornets team that ended the Linsanity winning streak.

Everyone else faced with far less tenacity.

Same thing that's happening to Caitlin Clark.

Good to hear Vasq was doing fine in scrimmages and could be ready by the beginning of the season.

Thanks for the honesty.

He's providing scholarships to 4 Venezuelans to attend High Schools in America. He says kids who do the right things like he did don't get the same opportunities just because they're not in America so can't be McDonald's All-American because they're in a different country.

He said this, this week

“Thank God I’m feeling much better. Every game I feel better,’’ Vasquez said. “My work is going to be seen when the real season starts. I’m a vet. Preseason is really tough for me. But I like where we are.”

Don’t use the word “mentor” around Greivis Vasquez.

He signed with the Nets to contribute, not serve as a rah-rah bench guy or a veteran merely around to help Brooklyn’s younger players.

“I’m not done yet. I’m a vet that can produce,” Vasquez said Saturday after practice. “Don’t sleep on me. I work too hard to just be a regular guy that talks in the locker room. I bring leadership, but I’m also going to bring [production], and it’s going to be on the court by playing hard, fouling somebody, hitting a big shot like I did when I was in Toronto.”

i love the cockiness of Vasquez...he is a cool dude

I need to see more energy.

if he wants to lead by example, cool. but i need to see max effort.

he is clearly the ass hole of the squad. which can be a good thing if he produces.

every team needs an ass hole. we won't be able to **** on other teams without one.

the good thing is this guy believes in himself. he may not have much game but he THINKS he does. that goes a long way in the NBA.

he's probably also the most important guy off the bench. he's the engine to that bench. If he can't play well this team is TOAST unless Lin can play 40 MPG nightly.

In 2016 today, Vasquez looks nothing like the guy who handed Linsanity a serving of whoopa$$. He looks fast in those old clips compared to what we see today. And he was slow then.

He is so flat footed now and he needs to use his body to abuse like he did Lin in those clips. He seems to have trouble standing and passing these days. This team can't wait on him for 20 games to get his legs back.

Waived.
He needs ankle surgery. Yogi is apparently signing and he will be available today against the Neeks.
