Great album to get lost in with a few "peripheral aids". Not a great day to day listen though to be frank.

OT: Maya Moore

Post#383 » by goldenbrandon » Tue Oct 18, 2016 2:57 am

Is it time to put Maya Moore in best women athlete with Serena Williams. I know she isn't in an individual sport but has some all time accolades already. She's won 3 titles since 2011 and a chance for another Thursday. She has rookie of the year and MVP's. She hit a buzzer 3 to win a Finals series. She even has a stellar college career. I know it's still early for her but is she the best woman athlete in world or at least tied with Serena.

You are right she is great and still has a long career left. There is a lot of talent in the WNBA right now.

I think she is making 120,000 this year. That's like their max.

I always enjoy watching Elena Delle Donne. I think she wouldn't be interested in watching me though.

No disrespect to Maya, but before opening this thread, I assumed the topic was going to be about some new up-and-coming porn star.

It's unfortunate but the wnba just doesn't generate a lot of money. The women's National soccer team now they have a legitimate beef since they generate a lot of money and are getting paid a fraction of what the men make.

Thanks to the NBA, I think more and more people are beginning to watch the WNBA. Most did not think the league would've lasted as long as it has. Look at SC, they won't even list WNBA scores on their scoreboard unless 1. It's playoffs or 2. Nothing else to report on. To be honest, I like watching the women get at it. They're fundamentally sound and it's great teamwork. Oddly enough, I'm a Sparks fan... Lisa Leslie was my crush and Parker is not bad, imo. ;)

The WNBA is losing money, and has lost money since their inception. I'm a die-hard hoops fan and I can't watch that crap.

honestly, the league wouldn't be around if the NBA didn't subsidize it. The NBA pays millions a year to keep the league afloat. It's not very popular, doesn't draw tv ratings, and isn't very exciting in my opinion.

WNBA isn't as bad as most people think. I don't know why it isn't bigger. Unlike before there are plenty of superstars where as before there were a handful. Women's USA team is just as dominate as men. And there are enough superstars for each team. There are even a handful of women that dunk.

Maya Moore currently has 40% of the career Serena has. Serena has put in 15 years of year-round tennis of which she has either won a grand slam or made a grand slam final.

Also, just my opinion, but tennis in general is a much more difficult sport than basketball. Physically, mentally, and in the women's case, just as bad from a financial standpoint for those outside the top rankings.

The wnba game is okay. If you can resist comparing it to nba and take it at face value it can be enjoyable. I've even gone to a few liberty games and they were decent. To me it is very comparable experience to men's college basketball. Some of the WNBA players are pretty incredible too.
