The play starting at 1:16 is very interesting. A double straight line screen down the lane which is only made possible because Lopez's defender sagged off the initial screen. After the second screen set by Hamilton, Brook should be initially cutting behind Amir Johnson (#90) and then setting the pick to prolong Hamilton's open space.

Your constant put downs of Booker are ridiculous. Last week you called him 'awful' and when I used his career PER of 14.9 to prove that he is actually almost exactly league average and not 'awful' you didn't say another word. This week you call him a 'borderline rotation player' and that's equally as incorrect. He has averaged 20 minutes per game for his career. Last season he averaged exactly that while playing in a 40 win Jazz team. How can you possibly justify calling a 20mpg guy a 'borderline rotation player'? How many minutes does someone have to play to be a rotation player?
Ridiculous? He was the 4th big in Utah. He is not a good player. He has no skills, is small for the position and only brings energy. That's a borderline rotational player who you are always looking to upgrade and not start. We could have found someone to provide us that at a fraction of the cost.

We still don't know much about this regular season rotation. I hope Kenny goes full dress rehearsal against the Knicks.

Agreed. This is a new team, and we can't keep experimenting and pretend we'll magically fit together on opening night,
I gotta say, I'm really disappointed in our approach to preseason. We are 5 games in with an almoat brand new team and what do we know? Beech, Mockevicius, Budinger and Gutierrez aren't gonna make the team. We knew that. Yogi, Whitehead and CMC are gonna need to develop in the D-League. We knew that. So why have we wasted so many minutes in these guys?
Yeah I get it. Its preseason, it doesn't matter, avoid injuries etc etc. But this is a team that has never played together and after the preseason we've had, that will not change. We are not a team that will win many games in talent. We will win because of chemistry and fight and we have built none of the first one and we are 1 game from opening night.
How many pick'n'rolls have Lin and Lopez run? How many post ups has Lopez seen? How much time have our starters spent together? Who are our starters? Which 5 is going to close a game? We had the perfect opportunity to try and close out a game earlier in the preseason and ended up with Vasquez taking the go ahead shot. Who gives a **** about the W, but wouldn't it beneficial to have a crack at how those gane situations might play out before the games count? Even if the opposition are playing their scrubs, wouldn't it be a good chance to practice our go to plays and see what works?
I know its pretty much unheard of for teams to care about preseason, but this preseason is an opportunity lost for me.
I agree we probably did not need to see Gutierrez, Budinger, even CMac again last night. But can't fault Kenny for giving them one last chance, and it made sense to give Whitehead 15 minutes to make sure what happened against DragicndJennings was not anomaly. Now pretty sure we won't see more of him or CMac before sending them to DLeague.
Mocky and Beech got just a few minutes each last night. No big deal.
Last night was rough - but I for one admire KA giving everyone their full fair shot.
--
I think we have a pretty strong indication of who starters will be except for SG, and even that position preseason has shown us will almost certainly go to Foye for now.
In fact there are IMHO only a few remaining questions -- most centering around the role Harris/Bojan/Skils will have on this team. Bennett's only getting spot minutes,If any
Who the closers are will become clearer after they develop more chemistry and gel. That wasn't going to happen by preseason anyway. That probably won't happen until mid December
Based on last night I expect to see Yogi toget a few minutes in Knicks game. that should be interesting. If there was some way to stash CMac in DLeague for a year and have Yogi on the roster, I'd do it. But unfortunately I don't see how they do that

I'm still looking forward to seeing a full rotation of minutes for everyone before I make any conclusions but Bojan is just not a winner. He's had the best olympic season scoring average in years and he somehow can't even score or defend against a career scrub like James Young? He's always been real good or real bad. No in between.

I think Atkinson wants to get the defense down first, motion offense second, experiment with the rotations third.

Trust the process y'all.
Kenny seems like a guy who is very careful and wants to test and try out all the pieces before settling on something. After all he entire team is pretty much new to each other.
Pretty ugly pre season so far, but let's wait 10 games in and see. Prepare to have a drink in your hand though. Something hard.

Is that part of the motion offense? Or Brook practicing being the stretch five? Or Lin driving to the basket(and dish) would be the main weapon?

agree with this..I'm seeing the same thing..Brook is fading away from the basket way too much after the screen and there needs to be a balance...You have to blame some of that on Kenny for telling Brook to shoot 3's and the fact that he's not tried to get Lin/Lopez in more PnR to build chemistry before the regular season start.
I'm starting to think Booker may be a better partner for Lin on the PnR..Problem with Booker is he's a tweener...too small.

'Rotation player' is all about minutes. If he is playing 20 minutes per game for his career he is very obviously 'in the rotation' and therefore is a rotation player. Its remarkable that a guy with 'no skills' has a career PER of 15. Must be some sort of miracle that the most widely accepted stat for contribution to team success says he is exactly league average when he is actually 'awful' with 'no skills'.

He just doesn't personally like Booker. Mind you, this is the same poster that slammed the front office for not tripping over themselves to sign Dion Waiters, a hero ball chucker who posted a PER of 9 last season and has a career True Shooting percentage of 48%.
