Dat and Nate both live in Columbus? Very cool! You 2 should go to the game together -- discuss politics during the time-outs!

The defense looks horrible. This season is going to suck.

I think he's in Columbus too? Or Dayton.

Kelly needs to put on weight. He's good at getting inside but can't finish

He also seems to slowly straight-line drive into two taller players right at the basket. He will eventually learn I guess.

Was wrong about Nicholson. He's good. Really good. Better shooter and smarter player than Morris.

He would seem even better if we had Ian to mask some of his defensive faults... also if Marcus doesn't get too much burn either. Offensively Nicholson is fun to watch tho, lots of stuff around the rim and I'm hoping his 3pt stroke improves this season as well.

I like Tomas' game, but one thing I'd like to see him do more of is take some of these wide open 3s... hopefully the confidence will be there by mid season.

Boy do we need another SF tho...

I think he might end up being one of my favorite players (like, in the whole league lol)

He has a serious low post game, and hands are incredibly soft in traffic. Oh and he can shoot threes from the corner and above the break, trailing threes in transition. I'm just imagining Nicho destroying second units all season.. Once we get Mahinmi back to patrol the paint, our bench could be a major plus lineup.

Ayyy we beat a team not named the sixers, and they played their starters.

Nicholson did look great on offense and is solid on the boards. Had to guard LeBron when the Cavs went small and that wasn't fair. His post moves are so much better than Gortat's, Morris and Mahinmi, it isn't funny.

Thought it was strange at the end with Thornton (ugh), Sato and Burke on the floor. Neither could make a play at the end with the ball. Sato playing with Wall was interesting, but his lack of a jumper is alarming. He really can't shoot it outside of five feet and you can see it as teams are now daring him to shoot and trying to take away the drive. Burke had some bad turnovers down the stretch, but wasn't bad overall. You aren't going to see Burke in the game that late (hopefully). Oubre was overmatched by LeBron and still looks like a kid out there. He really needs that consistent jumper because teams will take away his lefty drives. LeBron killed one of his shots (ala NBA Finals) when he drive right but shot it with left hand off wrong foot.

No McClellan, House, Johnny O, or Eddie. Not really rotation guys anyways. I didn't realize Ochefu played 19 minutes. No points, 2 assists and a rebound. And we're going to keep him because he's kind of a center and Mahini is hurt? At least Johnny O is active. Thought defense was decent even if first quarter when the Cavs couldn't miss. They hit some tough shots, including LeBron and his unstoppable fadeaways. Oubre and Morris seemed to have no communication on defense a couple of times. Morris was in regular season mode in terms of his lax effort, Just wish he had some passion because he does have some talent. Gortat missed his typical amount of makeable shots in the paint and didn't have to play great defense because Tristan Thompson isn't there to shoot.

Overall, I thought we played pretty well, considering this was by far the best team in the East. They play great D so 20 assists, 15 turnovers not preseason awful. And we shot 71% from the line.

I mean Markieff has had all of one full year in his career in which he put up an EFG% that exceeded Nicholson's career average. Nicholson's overall numbers are also depressed by having had two really bad years sandwiched by two acceptable ones whereas Morris' overall numbers and particularly his PER are buoyed by having been pretty good for two years prior to last year. We traded a first round pick for the one. Uh.... The Aristocrats!

I like our depth this year more than any in recent past. I wonder if Morris could play some 3 alongside Nicholson at 4 when going against beefy opponents. Morris seems to move well defensively on the perimeter and Nick is a much better rebounder it appears.

Return to Washington Wizards
