Baez got lucky with Rizzo's foul ball on the 3-0 count only to give up the HR on a full count. I didn't want to wake up the Cubs' offense, so if losing this game were not bad enough, giving them life for the next few games makes it even harder for us. Come on, Dodgers.

Now Baez just misses giving up a HR to Ben Zobrist...twice. :nonono:

i know Dave wants to keep Pedro in there until the end of this inning so he can bring up Ethier to pinch hit for him after Toles, but Baez needs to get outs first before we can think about saving more arms. we have 7 arms in the pen for godsake

but this is still baseball. I was at the dodger stadium 20 some years ago when we were up by 8 or 9 runs, and Tommy called for a rookie arm to get 3 outs on top of the 9th and we gave up 10 runs and lost.

anything can happen in a game with no playing clock. we are down but we ain't dead.

I had set 6 runs to be the mark we can maximally make up in this game. we are down by 5. we have a better shot coming back here than Maeda giving us a scoreless 5 innings tomorrow.

Agreed but I suspect Roberts will pinch-hit for him in this inning, though.

I don't think he will be staying. pitching spot is up and we can't waste outs. whether Toles get on base or not, Dave will pinch hit and proably double switch to do so.

Toles is trying to be the hero of this game. Excellent at bats and aside from trying to throw it to San Diego, solid fielding.
