Could nick young end up in the starting lineup?

Post#1 » by TKainZero » Thu Oct 20, 2016 5:33 am

SG and SF startin spots are pretty much up for grabs

Young is a good shooter, and in Waltons system, having the spacing out here is a big plus, and allows Russell to have all ball handling duties (otherwise being split with Lou/Clarkson at SG, or when Russell is a SG with huretas/Calderon )

Young can fill it up. Not the defensive force the lakers need on the wing. But he can score.

Youngs value has defiantly one up over the last few weeks, shooting is always needed

I "could" see starting Young. I think there really hasn't been a conversation about this yet because it wasn't clear if Nick was just having a couple good games. It looks like he's a really good fit on this roster tho.

I do believe JC should be the starter but I couod see Nick starting at SG more so than SF.

Young is a streaky player as is.
It is preseason
But it looks like it fits... Like a glove!!!

The way he is playing right now he could definitely replace Lou at the SG. But I still believe JC should start.

lol funny how most of you have wanted swaggy gone and now you all want him to start lol

I love swaggy and if he keeps up the good work I want him on the team, but not as a starter. Although he could possibly replace Lou instead and have Lou and Clarkson etc off the bench - but I'm still not sold on him starting, however I love the fact he is passing more in the hope to maintain that spot - let's hope once he gets that spot he doesn't drift off.

I think he should. Him starting at the 2 gives us a better advantage. The current starting line up needs a lot of help and i think Nick can provide that.

Just to ad to this.

If you had to pick to start either Young or Lou who would you choose? It's obvious to Walton that Clarkson is coming off the bench, which is a shame and Ingram is a while away from starting, but that will happen, just not right now.

So basically the starting SG spot goes to Lou or Young - the question is who?

To answer your question, right now NIck deserves it more than Lou.

I still want him gone... But he's looking like the best player at that position right now. If Deng doesn't get healthy or can't make the move back to SF, and if Ingram can't repeat last night's performance, and if Brown isn't an elite defensive force... Then sure, I guess.

Hopefully he is upping his trade stock...if he had any to begin with. He's playing well, but I honestly was hoping he would be gone in the offseason, just because of unnecessary drama and dialogue by the media. Idk, I still want him gone as well. I don't really feel comfortable having someone whose persona is 'Most Hated Player' or whatever he goes by now, around the youth.

Sure is ballin' in preseason though.

I think that because he's playing so well he'd be perfect off the bench.
Seems like Luke wanted Clarkson off the bench to help cover Lou's defensive woes. But now that Nick shows he can score AND defend, Clarkson can start and Nick is first off the bench. I think he could potentially torch second units.
All of this makes Lou expendable and we could trade him for a pick.

Young starting or even getting big minutes isn't in sync with Luke's idea of developing players is it?

Young does seem to fit a lot better in this sort of system with Russell next to him than either Lou or Clarkson ironically.
