Your Season Prediciton Thread

Post#1 » by Nolan » Thu Oct 20, 2016 3:21 pm

We only have one regular season left and then the season begins on the 25th. So I thought now would be a great time for everyone to share their predictions for the our upcoming season.

How many games do you see us winning? How far do we make it in the playoffs? Who's our breakout player(s)? Who's the MVP of the team? And so on...

Look forward to reading all your thoughts!

I expect 57 wins

Breakout players are Bertans and Murray in the 2nd half of the season.

How far we make it in the playoffs depends on heath. At least the 2nd round but more likely the WCF....and if we get a break or two (in oakland) we could win it all... GS is the favorite but, we should be the 2nd seed.

Kawhi is the team's MVP.

A trade wouldn't surprise me either..it could be LA if a godfather offer comes around but, realistically I expect a smaller trade involving a player like Anderson, Simmons, or LVC that will free up a roster spot for one of the D-League guys who doesn't make the cut tonight and return a small 2nd round future pick.

I'm guessing between 57-62 wins, I'll go with 59.

Some predictions:

-Kawhi: 24/7/3/2/1
-LA: 20/9/2.5/1.5
-Gasol: 14/8/3/1.5
-Bertans will be the main guy off the bench by the RRT
-Patty Mills will have a great contract year and return to form from distance
-Danny Green will have another disappointing season shooting wise
-Spurs will still be the best defensive team in the league
-Spurs will be a top 4 offensive team
-Simmons will be cut/traded
-Dejounte Murray will not see any meaningful playing time this season
-Dedmon will take a long time to pick up the system
-Spurs fans will be calling for Pop to stop playing David Lee/Pau Gasol together before the ASB

I've followed the Spurs for over forty years. (Anyone remember George "Rejection GJ" Johnson?) I've also followed this board for several years but rarely post. With the retirement of Duncan, it seems like a fitting time to comment.

The retirement of Duncan should be a significant change for the Spurs org. I believe that we'll experience the first sub-fifty win season since Duncan arrived. While others believe that our defense will remain stout, I believe we'll cease being an elite defensive unit in large part due to Duncan's retirement: it'll be hard to replace a legend. And offensively, I'm concerned about our aging playmakers (Parker, Ginobili) who are finally past their prime. Meanwhile younger playmakers (Anderson, Mills, Simmons, Murray, and Green) have many question marks. Without a strong PG or SG, I believe the Spurs will meander offensively, despite their talented veteran frontcourt (Aldridge, Leonard, Gasol and Lee).

I expect 49 wins.

Agree with you on Green and the Lee/Gasol front court. Green's issues are confidence related and his shooting in the preseason has been pretty awful once again. As for Lee/Gasol i'm going to be cringing so hard every time those two play together.

if spurs win +62 games, mvp is kawhi locked and dpoy...too many weak teams to feasts on and 1 man teams

i see them winning +60 games, anything below 60 is underachieving with this roster....

55 games won, Kawhi for team MVP (i can see myself saying that for the next 5 years). As for breakouts i'm really not sure, i've never been good at predicting who on our team will be the next big thing lol.
a part of me feels like if Danny has another **** when he comes back then we might trade him off in a few months though.
