I was yes last time. Changed to no. Such a disappointment this preseason, no confidence at all. He'll be lucky just to not get cut.

I voted too fast, before reading all of the options. Hit NO immediately and voted, then read "cut before...". He's gonna get cut.

There's just no way his option gets picked up. His NBA viability is 100% tied to if his shot is falling or not and it hasn't fell from the moment he left Michigan.
They say an analytics man doesn't have a heart, but I ran the numbers and nothing can be further from the truth - Sam Hinkie probably

The most frustrating player that's passed through Philly in awhile. Nik checks all the boxes as far as size for the position, athleticism, and ability to put the ball on the floor. He was a lotto pick because he showed elite shooting prowess and played with a swagger. His skill set was tailor made for the modern day NBA and was supposed to fit our team like a glove.

Somewhere between getting drafted and joining the league his confidence disappeared and his shooting touch completely abandoned him. It's indescribable the way his game just disinegrated.

As it turns out, Nik doesn't rock.

I know I'm the minority, but I still hold out some hope for Nik. I'm not saying he'll be an all star or anything close to that level, but I think he can be a good rotational player. Something is going on between his ears. If Brett Brown can figure that out, Nik might still be worth something. I have a bit of longer leash on Nik than others. I'd give him until the end of this season to see if he can figure it out.

By the way, if they don't pick up his option and then don't cut him they are being foolish. It limits what you can offer next year, so you are just using a spot and developmental minutes on a guy that in the best case, you cannot sign legally to what he is then worth.

Indy with Solomon Hill for instance.

Might as well pick up the option unless there is clearly a better option out there. I would not swap him out for another marginal player like Paul or Barber. At very least, give Brett Brown a bit of continuity with his back of the rotation players.

Option's almost $4m though, which is like 5 or 6 times what another 'marginal player' might fetch.

For the Sixers, I don't personally forecast him as turning his confidence issue around. For his own sake, regardless of how his tenure ends up with the 76ers, I truly want him to find his confidence. Hard not to root for anyone to face down their inner demons.

If you don't pick up the option, cut him. If you are going to keep him, pick up the option. Simple.

I don't know why people feel bad for him. He'll have made close to 9 million dollars before the age of 23, for being a complete bust.

I save my sympathy for guys like Brandon Paul and Cat Barber, who can actually play basketball, but will likely have the play in the NBDL for 30K this year.
