There was a good article by Bulpett last week regarding a Sixers/Celtics trade - very unlikely to happen, especially with young players, only because if either team screws up, you're going to be reminded about it 5 times per season over the next 5 years. I don't think Colangelo wants that, seeing as how it cost Billy King his job and provided much ridicule.

giving up an awful lot for HOLMES. I mean, seriously? I'd do James Young/Demitrious Jackson for Holmes and that's about it. Just because we have too many guys for a roster doesn't mean you start making bad trades to consolidate.
But what are we giving up really? A second round draft choice, Hunter who by all accounts is on the roster bubble and a late first two years down the road. I guess I don't see that as too big of a price to pay to ensure that Tyler Zeller never steps foot on an NBA court again. I know some are high on Zizic and Yabs as well but the question remains if those guys are ready to be NBA rotation players next season. KO is a RFA who may recieve a generous offer somewhere that the Celtics may not want to match, were on borrowed time with Amir and his glass ankles, and Jerebko is an end of the bench guy at best.

Yup, teams very rarely swap high-caliber prospects. Last time I remember was Jamison and Carter on draft night.
No one knows which of Rozier, Smart, Okafor or Noel could be all-stars, so it's very high stakes.
I actually would gamble on Okafor, he's slimmed down his body fat, will keep putting on muscle, and I think he could get his defense up to par within a year or two. This fall will probably show us if he's at all capable of growth as a rebounder.

Re: New Rumors and News Thread
I would love to have the upcoming Two-Way Contracts, for this year.
We could keep 18 Players on the Roster. Not have to worry about all this Stash stuff, and losing Rights to the D-League.
It can't get here soon enough.

That could be huge for next year. We're going to be bringing in Yabu, Nader, Zizic and the Brooklyn pick. I'm assuming at least a little trade will happen before then that should help clear space, but it'll definitely help alleviate the roster crunch.

Re: New Rumors and News Thread
We wanted Hernangomez at 16, btw, and settled for Yabu instead, and wanted to be sure we were getting a stash guy there.
Kings wanted to trade down for Papougiannis, who they were (stupidly?) scared would be gone at 16. Obviously a Jaylen/Chriss first round would've been amazing. Sometimes you're in the right place at the right time, sometimes you're not.

High picks were traded frequently in the 1990s. Pitino's dump of Chauncey BIllups wasn't that much of an aberration.
As for pure draft-night swaps of high picks, that's of course happened a lot:
Jamison/Carter
Marbury/Allen
Nowitski/Traylor
Love/Gay
Pippen/whoever (Stacey King?)
and many more.

Believe it or not it was for Olden Polynice. Ouch.

Yeah, good walk down memory lane.. It's rarer once players have been in the league a year or two, though.. Billups wasn't traded for Mcgrady, but for Kenny Anderson, who was 29ish.
I could see a swerve like Marcus Smart for Jabari Parker..

Chris Mannix has reported that if things fall apart early in Sacramento, Boston is one of the few teams they'd talk to with regards to a trade. However, with that being said, the starting package sounds laughable from a Celtics POV. They apparently want Smart, Crowder and a Nets pick for Boogie. I don't want to trade Crowder. Ever.

Ugh, this team has so many fan favorites, it's hard imagining any of them being traded. I think I would have to part with Smart before Crowder though & definitely not both. We have enough guard depth to make up for Smart. We'd be relying too heavily on Brown right away for a team that would be contending for the championship by making this move.
Besides that, Crowder's contract is such a steal too.
Thomas / Rozier
Bradley / Green
Crowder / Brown
Horford / Johnson
Cousins / Olynyk

Re: New Rumors and News Thread
Swap Crowder for Brown and throw in Gay as well and I'm down.
Boston: Cousins, Gay, McLemore
Sacramento: Brown, Smart, Amir, Zeller, 2017 or 2018 BKN first rounder, LAC 2019 first
IT/Rozier/Jackson
Bradley/Green/McLemore
Crowder/Gay
Horford/Jerebko
Cousins/Olynyk/Mickey
I gotta think Sac is still going to get a king's ransom for Boogie though if it ever goes down. I don't know if that'd do it given what other teams would start pushing the price towards.
I think that team can beat Cleveland though.

Cousins?
Hmm. If they want both Brooklyn picks, I am not giving them Smart, Brown or Rozier.
If it's one Brooklyn pick they can get one of those players, and probably not Brown.
Crowder is off the table for me.
Zeller, Jonas plus both BK picks, and Clippers future first plus draft rights to Zizic.

Crowder off the table ?
Crowder is two seasons removed from being a bench player with little value in the league.
I give up Smart, Crowder and the Brooklyn 2018 EASY for Boogie and I dont even like Boogie.
Throw in Zeller for some cheesecake.

I go back and forth so often on Cousins. Some days I'd do Smart, Crowder, and a BKN pick...some days I'm not sure I'd do Smart and either Crowder or a BKN pick. In Ainge we trust I guess.

Jae Crowder is an incredibly valuable asset with his ridiculously good contract. He's an all NBA caliber defender and is going to be one of the major sticking points for other teams in any trade for a star.
Taking Crowder and Smart both off this team turns us from the best defensive team in the NBA to a middle of the road, average defensive team.
Amazes me how little credit these guys get for the importance of their defensive impact. Two of the most versatile defenders in the NBA, and you can bet your ass their value around the league is very high.
One day Marcus Smart will be defensive player of the year, mark my words.

Crowder is nasty and his contract is one of the many reasons we can actually sign another guy to a max contract

Re: New Rumors and News Thread
Crowder should not be untouchable in a trade for a superstar, but he is one of our highest value pieces easily. That contract is amazing, his game as it currently stands is outstanding, but he still needs to prove he can maintain it and he's also more of a glue guy that a go-to guy, which is still valuable, but less so comparatively. He's also got potential to improve.
The thing about Crowder for me in these kinds of trades is that I don't think he needs to be a deal breaker for most teams trading a superstar. They are probably looking for picks and/or young studs and you almost always hear them want a starter, but the Celtics have all of those and I feel like they could create a package where Crowder wasn't needed to get the other team to sign on.
If they want Smart, Crowder, BKN 2018 for example, I'm sure you could make that Smart, Brown, BKN 2018 and Memphis 2019 and they still take it (or something along those lines).
He's not untouchable, but he also shouldn't be a deal-breaker for other ball-clubs especially with our varied asset set.
