Lurkers- it's a good time to sign up and post!

The Season starts Wednesday for the Purple & Gold! The long offseason is over, we have our young draft pick in hand, Nick young is playing defense and it would be a great time to jump in and introduce yourself here.

And... I'd love to know WHY you like the Lakers

For me: I was taken to several games at the forum as a kid and on my second game I got to high five Kareem and Magic and was HOOOOOKED.

Nice...

Not a lurker, but I moved to LA in 1980. I was a little kid. I remember sitting on the couch with my dad watching Lakers throughout the 80's. My dad was never much of a sports guy, but he totally dug the showtime Lakers...and we had just moved here, so it worked. I remember being like 11 or so, and constantly defending that Magic was way better than Jordan. Everyone was falling in love with Mike, and I was so pissed a few years later when they beat us in the Finals. Just about everyone I knew rubbed it in my face.

For every win...there's been a painful loss for us. It's that ice/fire relationship that keeps bringing me back. Like that crazy-bi** girlfriend.....but the makeup sex is other-worldly.

I've lurked on most of the Laker sites over the years. Never really participated much other than here. I've been in a profession that keeps me moving and very busy. I've recently stepped back and have been fortunate to now work when I want to.

As I said in another thread, I've followed the Lakers since the early 70's as a kid. I was in the house for just about every home game during the 80-88 run. Moved away from the rat race that is LA today to the mountains. Still love the Lakers and follow them when every I can.

Even though I signed up a while ago, I've mostly lurked the entire time I've been a member. I actually hail from KC, so I don't have a hometown basketball team. I became a Lakers fan when I was still a senior in high school back in 98 because of Kobe. I loved his swagger as a rookie. Over the years, my love for Kobe developed into a love for the Lakers, but being a Chiefs and Royals fan, I always say you're never a true fan till you suffer through some down years.

As much as I hate that the Lakers have been down the last few seasons, I'm glad I'm going through this rebuild with them because it will make the return to success sweeter when they're back on top.

Yep...every once in a while it's good to suck a couple years. Shed those fair-weather fans, and puts wins into prospective. That said...I think my cup of 'garbage watching' runneth full. It high time we started getting back towards the top.

Lol, my cup of garbage watching also definitely "runneth full as well." That said, I feel really good about Ingram and D'Lo moving forward! In a way these are kind of exciting times though, because we're at the beginning of a new era, and I'm happy to be here for it.

I lurk most of the time. I lurked for more than 5 years before I officially made an account last 2013. Always been a Laker fan right from the start. Through the good times and the bad. Will forever be a Laker fan. I bleed purple and gold.

lurkin for several years now :>.
26 from Austria

Lakers fan because,...

In the 90s my older brother watched a lot of bulls games, he was a big MJ fan. I was like 7-10 back then, not sure.

I just remember that we watched a laker game once and I saw nick van exel and kobe. There was smth that I liked about them, maybe just because kobe was young and nick has a childish face? :D

I really started to follow the nba and watch a lot of games around 2011. So ye, I kinda missed the best time 00-03, 08-10, but watched the games, interviews, documentations over and over.

I'm very excited to see our young talent grow and I dont mind not seein us in the playoffs this or next year. Its all about the long run :)

I've been a lurker for 4 years now, you've actually encouraged me to sign up!

I came to these boards because I don't know any other serious NBA fans around where I live, so I've been trying to learn from lurking around here as much as I can. 8-)

My dad never stopped talking about watching the Showtime Lakers as I was growing up (his favourite player of all time is Magic). He got me interested in time to watch the first 3-peat, so I've been a fan ever since!

Welcome aboard! Even if you mostly lurk it's totally worth it to occasionally ask milesfides if he knows what "succinct" means, or give Deep a headsup that his barnacles are showing.

If you are an article hunter, the board will love you, though.
