A historical footnote, it'd appear.

Man...National could've scored one more if the 3rd base coach didn't make that mistake. What a shame.

Well the Nats franchise now has gone 48 years without making the World Series. And I am damn happy about the last 13,

4:32 4-3 nine inning game, that's absolutely unacceptable. Baseball has to do something about this.

I'd implement a rule where relief pitchers have to face at least two batters with the exception of the final out.

Best part of this game was Dusty using a fresh reliever just for an intentional walk.

bringing in your closer in a do or die game to get out of a tough inning in the 7th. Showalter must be having nightmares with that move.

Happy to see Kershaw shed his choker label. Now if he could string together a few dominant starts, he'll really strengthen his GOAT case.

One game away from the baseball's longest-suffering teams facing off for a title.

And despite having zero World Series wins since Milton Berle was an infant, and failing to even reach the Series since World War II, the Cubs would move into a tie for seventh in total World Series appearance by franchise, with twelve. Because baseball is old.

Presumably, this can only mean one thing: the Cubs are about to experience an all-world collapse.

Yup. Congrats to the Cubs on their first-ever NL pennant, and bring on the #narratives.

And I agree on the Cubs sentiment. Hate to cheer against the woebegone Indians, but the Cubs have always been the closest I had to a second team, by virtue of the fact that their games were always on when I got home from school. That and the bit where they're just ludicrously fun...they just won their way to the World Series with a starting lineup featuring five position players 24 years of age or younger.

Hope Shapiro's other team takes these guys out.

The longest AL World Series drought vs. the longest NL World Series drought. This will be one for the books.

The Cubs acted like a team that were happy to make the World Series and not like a team that had 4 more wins to reach their ultimate goal.

I think the Indians win this series and win it easily.

Indians in 5.

Cleveland better hope their offense shows up cause it was barely better than the jays in the alcs. I think the cubs will take it.

They also somehow kept the Red Sox and Blue Jays offence down though.
