538 predicts the Magic to tie for the 7/8/9 seed. http://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/2017-nba-predictions/

I'm in at 45-37. .500 around January, then picking up 1 or 2 wins on top from there to April.

46-36 6th seed, upset the Celtics in first round in 7 games, lose to Raptors in 2nd round in 6 games. 6-7 in the playoffs overall.

I say we go 40-42. Only because I have no idea about this roster, it's an enigma to me. The preseason revealed little. But defensively the should do well, we have a better coaching staff, but offensively who knows.

I'm optimistic and predicting we break even at 41. A lot of question marks left. This season can be a Cinderella story or a complete sh*tfest. Hoping for option 1.

Final prediction: Finish season 41-41 and break for that 8th seed.

:D :D Haven't shown a great deal of consistancy yet, but that's to be expected this early on. We have shown capability if playing together and with intensity! Barring injury, we should continue to improve in all areas - to what degree is to be determined. Having faith in our coaches and the talent being put together I am hoping and fairly confident in steady improvement! In excess of .500 would make me happy for this year. Next year, should our team and coaching staff stay together and with a basic level of individual and team improvement playoffs should be a given!!!

between 35 and 39

One injury to Vuc and/or Fournier and all hell breaks loose with the offense. Can we hinge on being a dominate defense like the 2000s Pistons barring the offensive talent of said team without the continuity between personnel both coaching and player's? Probably not.

39-43 with our current roster. If we can upgrade our PG with an all star type caliber, then 44-38 is possible.

50 wins.

somewhere in the low 40s would probably be more realistic, but realistic estimates tend to reduce my emotional investment in the games.

it's a huge if, especially considering where we ranked in the statistic last season, but *if* this team can manage to get somewhere around the league average in free throw rate then a win total in the high 40 isn't out of the question.

note that i'm taking a much improved defense and increased production from behind the 3pt line as pretty much granted at this point; jinxes be damned.

the only other thing that worries me is our turnover rate. there's obviously going to be some spillover from the preseason in that area. hopefully, it won't be for too long or cost us much in the way of wins.

49-33
I have a feeling this team will hover around .500 for the first 25-30 games and then look better and better as the season go.

I feel the same way about the Suns. For the Magic, I would say around 36-43 wins.

50-32 I can't see how we won't be a top defensive team and at the end of the day defense wins.

That's pretty optimistic for the Suns, they're a terrible perimeter defensive team.

They were pretty terrible in every aspect of the game last year. Too many injuries, too much drama (Kieff & Horny). The Suns should have better chemistry this year.

This is where I am at as well.

For me, anything less than 41 wins will be a failed season.
