Bentil
He was high on my draft list and we've now signed him hours before I assume we cut him. I'm guessing this is a preemptive action to get him on the Ants but maybe someone else is on the chopping block. I'd gladly trade Miles for a future second to clear a roster spot.

Re: Bentil
This gives us 16 players one too many. That's assuming Evans, and Stone are the cuts to 15. If we want to keep Bentil who goes? He's a good pick up if we then send him to the Ants, terms of the deal will be interesting.
The Celtics also cut former #1 pick RJ Hunter an Indiana guy, let's get him playing in Ft Wayne too. I might just road trip it to see them play.

He was waived an hour ago. Looks to be an affiliate signing for Ft Wayne, much like we did with Terran Petteway last year.

Re: Bentil
McMillan told the press today that the plan was to have him play all year with the Ants. It's in the Stars latest podcast. mac hopes he might be like GRob in a year or two.

Re: Bentil
What does this mean though that we signed, waived Benton right away. Do we still retain his right even though he is with the ants or can any other team now sign him to the NBA

I like the stash. I'm glad that he's with our affiliate as opposed to someone else's.

Re: Bentil
It's not exactly encouraging for his Pacer chances that the Celtics first drafted him to join their NBA training camp and afterwards judge that he isn't even worth the stash on their D league affiliate, but it's always a good thing that the Ants get draftees.

Any other NBA team can sign him. We just get to place him at Ft. Wayne, in our system, and keep a much closer eye on him, and develop him in our program, with our extended coaching staff in Ft. Wayne. There are benefits to us, but it doesn't lock him up permanently at all.

I wouldn't assume that necessarily. Boston gave him something like $200k guaranteed for training camp. I'm sure they would've liked to keep him in Maine with the Red Claws, but we had an opportunity to get him to Ft. Wayne by giving him something like $50k more. I mean, $200k is nice and all, but getting another $50k on top of that is even better. Essentially, we swooped in and stole him out from under the Celtics and their plans to get him to Maine, in all likelihood. Or, Boston already has 4 affiliate assignments and couldn't assign Bentil even if they wanted to.

Re: Bentil
Boston had a lot of draft picks and it would seem that they had more bodies than spots. I'm really looking forward to the new CBA which is reported to have two more roster spots which can be flexible with the player getting D-League money when there and big league money when called up. Much more like baseball. It looks like this won't happen until next year though.
leading up to the draft, I had a long list of players I wanted whose names began with B. Bentil was high on my list and I worried when we took Niang who wasn't on my radar with Bentil and Bolomboy going in the next two picks. I really like that we got Bentil for the Ants.
