Our four "penciled in" starters that season (only ones who played zero games coming off the bench) missed a combined 82 games.
Melo missed 15 games, Tyson 16 games, Felton (when he was still a "decent" starting point guard) 14 games, and Shumpert (when he was a "passable" starting 3&D SG/SF) missed 37 games.
Even if Noah, Melo, and Rose miss 15 games each, we have a good shot at a 50+ win season
When those guys missed games, you had Camby, Wallace, Kidd covering for them. Those guys knew how to play the game. Now your answer is Vujacic and OQuinn. That doesn't scream confidence.
Camby and Wallace played about three weeks each and Kidd was horrible after mid season. We had Krazy Eyes playing with a broken foot.
I have read a lot of garbage in this thread. BnO had some real trash.
We have one of the top starting units in the East. Give me a **** break with injury talk. Players legs have snapped in half and they are back playing. EVERY team faces injury concerns. Curry had tin foil anklesmfor YEARS before he broke out. Still has injury concerns. Rose hasn't had major injury in two years. He isn't GTF to go down any more than anyone else.
Noah is our ONLY injury concern. It already seems to be kicking in with little injuries. So that is our big injury concern.
If we have a relatively healthy yearwe are a 48-54 win team. Our bench gets no props at all. It's as if people don't watch the games. This bench is worse than last years? LMFAO! OK

MOST IPORTANTLY....HEAD COACH
HORNACEK-Fisher/Rambis
Hornacek won 48 games with much less firepower in a stacked West. He had injury issues that year and it was his rookie season! Enough with the negative slants from battered fans or flat out trolls who I seriously doubt are fans of the team.

45 wins IMO. Hopefully more but I expect Sweet Melon/Noah/Rose to all miss some games.

I would say 39-43. Miss the playoffs.
Every single year you guys over predict and every year you guys cry about the results. I am done being optimistic and will wait for this team to prove me wrong.

Re: Knicks Record Prediction
I'm going with 45-37.
I'm dubious about the bench offense and talent/experience overall. The bench is shaky, there's just no way around it. If everything goes well then sure, they're fine, but when was the last time the ball bounced in the Knicks favor? Clinton (Bill) Administration?
Would not be surprised at several key players going down with injuries for about 10-15 games.
Am expecting an uptick from Porzingis and Rose from last season to some noticeable degree (for different reasons). Rose I would expect to look as close to his MVP year as at any point since his MVP year. Porzingis I think will hit 16-17ppg and be a bigger impact overall.
Noah? Not sure...I think he'll do better than last year but that's not really saying all that much since he can't possibly do any worse. Noah can have a great positive impact on the team but he needs to play and stay healthy. If he can't, his "fire" won't likely do much in street clothes. Also dubious of his fit in an uptempo system.
Anthony will be another year older so I would expect that, at best, he'll do what he did last season.
I do think Hornacek will get more out of this squad than either Fisher and Rambis (but then again, that's not really that hard either). I'm hoping he's also an uptick over Woodson.
They have the talent for a 50+ win season. But a lot of risk that likely would result in them not being able to hit 50. I don't see this team being bad enough unless Anthony and Rose both go down (and Jennings going full Commando) to even bother thinking about Josh Jackson or Markelle Fultz or Dennis Smith Jr.

This is very likely with the history the knicks have of underachieving.

So many teams have injury risk players. Heavy roster turnover. New HC. New systems. None of those teams get penalized for it. The Knicks? Disaster around every corner. STFU AND GTFOH with that noise!

Re: Knicks Record Prediction
I see soft defense all around with this team especially on the perimeter. Melo and the gang are poor at closing out on that 3 PT line and can't stay on their feet. Hope we see progess but with poor defense and with more and more teams loading up on quality shooters.
BAF Suns
Chris Paul / Patrick Beverley / Shamorie Ponds
Buddy Hield / Timothy Luwawu / Stanley Johnson
Kendrick Nunn / Matisse Thybulle / Darius Miller
RJ Barrett / Kyle Kuzma / Dwayne Bacon
DeAndre Jordan / Kenrich Williams / DJ Wilson

We (fans that just want high draft picks) don't want a do-over we want a being done with do-over's and just let it fall apart for good.

As usual there isn't enough speed on the outside to defend the 3pt line well.

To be fair, the Knicks have (again) one of the highest roster turnovers in the NBA (I believe top 2 or 3 is what they said). And 2 out of their starting 5 have significant recent injury history's and their projected 6th man the same.
But yes, the Knicks do still get particularly noted for things that other teams are not, that I agree with.

This is season hinges on the two Ex-Bulls reclaiming some of what appears to be lost.

Brandon Jennings and Courtney Lee will be the X factors. Jennings looks healthy and motivated to play in NYC. Lee the man no one is talking about is the man no team will be guarding either. The forgotten man will get a lot of open looks

Jennings a little but not Lee because you know what to expect out of him. Rose and Noah are the x-factors and Jennings could be if Rose goes down and we need to count on him for more.
But it's pretty clear that it's going to come down to how much time Noah and Rose miss and if they're production goes up from last year.

I want to have a stable core to build around with some upside and room to grow instead of relying on other team's vets all the time. Can we finally draft a young PG of our own that we can develop into a potential star instead of always hoping that one comes to us in FA? We better make the playoffs this year and make some actual noise because I'll be pissed if we end up with 40 wins and the 9th seed...I don't see us being bad enough to get a really high lottery pick unless damn near all of our top guys end up suffering from major injuries
