Nuggets at Pelicans (Regular season begins!!)
Finally the regular season is upon us. 6PM Mtn on Altitude
Mudiay expected to be back, possibly Harris and Arthur as well. I can't see them getting extended minutes given how long they were out. No line on this game yet but if this team wants to touch 40 wins I feel like they need to win games like this.

Re: Nuggets at Pelicans (Regular season begins!!)
It will be interesting to see who Malone finishes games with now in comparison to last season. At this point Gallo, Harris and DA will be locks to finish games but I do wonder if Malone has faith to put in Jokic/Nurkic in that situation when he didn't last year.
Malone adapted to opposition way too much last year. The talk of the preseason was that he'd play to our strengths which is 100% not small ball.

I'm interested in seeing how the Nuggets play in the 1st period and especially the 3rd period. They tended to start slow last year and come out of half-time even slower.

With a healthy Gallo, Chandler and Nurkic, this is a different team than last season. Add Faried off the bench and an aggressive Barton at SG, you have a solid veteran core with a lot of young growing talent. It's been a while since I have been this interested in the first game even if its on the road against a team ranked higher. I am expecting a good show!
Canned in Denver.

Kinda' lacking in interest right now. We'll see. Enjoyed other teams during the preseason and finding my interests turning elsewhere for the first time in 40+ years.

Really? This seems to be the most exciting team we've had in the last few years!

Nurkic playing well 15/5 in the 1st half. Denver coming out flat in the 2nd half. AD is going off but no one else is for the Pels

Wtf is with this small ball lineup? Nurk was easily our best player in the first three quarters and he hasn't played a minute in the 4th. Faried has been great, but c'mon Malone.

If we lose this it's on Malone for this awful lineup in the 4th.

I'm genuinely surprised they held on to that win. Between all those turnovers and Malone's god awful frontcourt rotations, it shouldn't have even been close.

How can you bench Nurkic in the 4th with the game he played tonight?

Have to agree but Faried was lights out tonight. Can't believe he was guarding Davis and yet they won with the small ball lineup.
I would have put in Nurkic!
Good win on the road, nevertheless.

Re: Nuggets at Pelicans (Regular season begins!!)
Lot to take away from this game both good and bad.
The rebounding and hustle was great. The Balkan lineup played well together, was also surprised to see Malone shy away from it in the 4th. If you'll throw Mudiay out there to learn with a game on the line Nurk should get in there as well. That being said good to see Chandler back out there, looked a lil rusty but he made a solid contribution.
Turnovers...wow, way too many of them. Some due to first game jitters but 20+ is not going to lead to wins most night. It's too early to say this but I'll throw it out there...maybe Mudiay isn't that good. I didn't like what I saw out of Nelson either. Plenty of room for improvement from the PG spot.
All in all great way to start the season. Let's keep it goin

Re: Nuggets at Pelicans (Regular season begins!!)
So it looks like our two secret weapons this season are going to be our depth and balance scoring. Nurkic seemed to be our best player tonight yet he didn't play much of the 4th qtr. Murray was looked upon to be scorer off the bench yet scored only 1pt. Jameer provided an unexpected spark, Faried off the bench great...Chandler looked rough in the 4th yet overall was a solid contributor. Gallo scored but not with the efficiency we saw in the preseason....first game, on the road, yet we won. Not typical of our historical win......

Re: Nuggets at Pelicans (Regular season begins!!)
Will Barton was also special tonight. What if he turns into a regular 20 pt per game scorer? With the team moving the ball around, Barton seems like a great fit at shooting guard. If he keeps this up, does Harris come off the bench?
Canned in Denver.

Re: Nuggets at Pelicans (Regular season begins!!)
Win - that's nice - played terrible, talking about the second half.
Looks like we need younger players because our guys were running around like they were wearing combat boots with steel plates in them.
Virtually all of the fourth quarter had a frontline of Gallinari, Faried, Chandler. I guess that reminds Nurkic & Jokic where they belong. Nelson played a great deal of the fourth quarter also. The Pelicans started double teaming him and he acted like he'd never been double teamed before.
What was wrong in the second half? They forgot how to play defense, in spurts. They forgot how to play the motion offense they practiced all preseason. Half of their turnovers were committed by Barton, Nelson, Chandler, Gallinari, Faried - can't blame 24 turnovers on the young bucks.
Color me unimpressed. But at least we got a win. <sigh>
