Rudez and Onuaku Make Team

Post#1 » by Howard Mass » Sun Oct 23, 2016 2:00 am

Damjan Rudez and Arinze Onuaku have made the team.

Nick Johnson and Ramon Galloway have been waived and could be headed to Erie.

I like how they are keeping Onuaku around so they can send Stephen Zimmerman to Erie as while he has a lot of potential, he also needs a lot of work.

I am excited for Wednesday night and the season to start.

How many players does the roster stand at currently?

Also, do you have any idea how long we are expected to keep Onauku? Are we planning to waive him during the season?

The roster is currently at 15, which is the max. I would expect Onauku to be around until January, but might get waived then because that's when his contract becomes fully guaranteed. Same things with Rudez's contract, but I think he'll stick around the whole year. Rob and most GM's like to keep only 14 guaranteed contracts to keep things flexible. This allows them to sign a player if a need arises due to injuries, or have an open roster spot in case they decide to make a trade and they take back more players than they are sending out.

I'm glad we kept Rudez. Her was another pleasant surprise. I didn't know he was such a good passer for a big man. Him off the bench is going to do damage. He started out not and kinda cooled off. Hope he isn't that streaky.

I'd like to see us go after James Young or RJ Hunter instead of keeping Onauku.

Didn't we do this bbefore? Waive before the contract becomes guaranteed then re-sign them back?

Just a guess, but I'm assuming that the Magic felt Onauku would do a better job backing up Vooch at Center tonite than Hunter would have done at that position...

What, no faith in the big Z as the 3rd big? Yeah, I get it for this game.

Just wishing we could snag a young potential type guy.

Watching Zimmerman in the preseason he seemed clearly not ready. He may well have more potential than Onauku but he is neither physically nor mentally ready to play in the NBA tonite. With no Biz we definitely need Onauku.

Actually, I thought the Z man hasn't looked too bad. It will be interesting, We'll probably need about 5 min from one of those 2. Serge can handle some 5 while Green takes some extra min at the 4.
