Re: GT: Hornets vs Bucks 10/26 8PM EST
The key with Hibbert will be using him strategically. Against a team like the Bucks that can't shoot and mostly looks to attack the rim to generate points, he is very well suited to counter their strategy. He is still likely going to be a liability against the teams that like to space and pace and run tons of pick an rolls. This is why I still think Cody should be the starter once he gets back up to speed (doesn't look like that will take long). Hibbert should be pretty useful matching up against Whiteside next game, but he might be borderline unplayable in the next game against Boston.

I agree that Hibbert will need to be used situationally. MIA is a great team for him to play against - the SAS, GSW, and BOS's of the world, not so much.
I like that we can trust Cody to bring the motor and energy regardless of his role, don't have to worry about his game being effected by whether or not he starts.

If Clifford can find the optimal way to stream Hibbert and Zeller we may be onto something. More Zeller against Boston and more Hibbert against Miami. Could be very nice. I'd be on board with Hibbert and Zeller sharing the starting role depending on matchups. Not sure how realistic that is though because it may be difficult for our other players to adjust on a nightly basis.

Is Hibbert supposed to be the starter for the entire year?
I just dropped Joe Johnson who had a great game and picked up Hibbert (fantasy)
Thanks
Thanks, man - it was a fun one for sure. Zeller was considered our starter going into the season, but was dealing with some minor injury issues so came off the bench last night. This being said, many of us here have seen the signs over the last few weeks that Clifford has a crush on Hibbert (it happens with Clifford) and after last night's performance, you may see Hibbert starting for awhile. My guess is your safe for the time being as "Zeller works his way back into game shape."
Thank you very much. I'll be rooting for Hibbert for sure

Even most of the teams that play small, start big, so keeping Roy as the starter would fine, just means bringing Cody in earlier, playing him longer and finishing with Cody. Cliff just has to be flexible and not keep robot rotations.

If Hibbert gives this amount of effort for 82 games he's going to be an All-D candidate again. MKG looked great, and Marv was hitting threes again.
I'm not sure if we're awesome or the Bucks (aside from Giannis) are crap, but we had stretches in that first game that made me think my 43 win prediction was low.

One thing that really struck me about this game was how much less Kemba is being asked to do. Maybe not asked, but how much less our success depends on Kemba making that success happen. He still played 35 minutes, which is too much, but he's not being leaned on any more to create everything for this team. Honestly at times I felt like he was less involved than maybe he should be, but checked the box score and saw he took 15 shots so maybe that was just me. It really is a whole new team and dynamic for Kemba where he doesn't have to put us on his back and carry us all game every game. Good opportunity for him to hone his playmaking and passing skills, because we have guys that can put the ball in the basket if we hit them in their spots. Batum, Marv, Lamb, and Belinelli aren't going to hide from taking shots so this is definitely not a team that's going to look to Kemba to bail them out every time they get into a late shot clock situation.
With all the options on this team Kemba should be able to protect his body a lot more and let guys like MKG and Cody do more attacking the basket.
Not really all that different from last season, but hopefully a trend that will continue.
