Scouting Report: Utah Jazz

After an amazing victory over the Houston Rockets in their season opener the undefeated 8-) Los Angeles Lakers kick off a 4 game road trip against the Utah Jazz. Despite being depleted by injuries to Gordon Hayward, Derrick Favors, and Alec Burks the Utah Jazz are still a very formidable opponent. With players like Joe Johnson and Rodney Hood scoring 29pts, and 26pts respectivley in their season opener the Jazz are not a team to be taken lightly. How will these young Lakers respond? Will they continue this new winning trend? Or, will this be another set back on their long road back to the top?... We'll have to tune in and see.

LET'S GO LAKERS!!!

My gut feeling says that we might receive a cold shower. Hope I'm wrong. Let's see how the guys will respond to the adversity on the road.

Worried about Rodney Hood. He always has great shooting performances against us.

I feel like we got this though.

We could win in this one. 3 key players are injured for the Jazz. We got this.

Real test if Favors is playing. I like our chances. Win or lose I know they'll put on a show and compete.

Really? For one, Favors could be back tonight, and we pushed Portland to the limit without him. Lyles had a rare off night too.

Anyways, I was surprised how good you guys were vs Houston (I saw the first 3 qtrs of the game). Being at home, I feel the Jazz have got to take it, but it should be a good game. Looking forward to a great game!

Favors will be a game time decision.

Read on Twitter

*Tweet stolen from the Utah board :D .

There are many mixed reports out there. Most are operating under the assumption that he will play, but I will drop an update as soon as there is clear confirmation either way.

playing or not, I think jazz are favorites. still, Lakers have options and with Walton look improved.

Winning atleast 1 game in the upcoming roadie would be real progress for this team.

Only way can pull this one out would be if D'Angelo gets insanely hot from 3.

Type of game lakers should at least compete in if not win. If they're not even competitive then the Houston game may prove to have been a one time only performance.

We got it bud... you guys are considered the favorites in this match up. Not sure what pointing that out accomplishes tho. Unless this is an attempt at a troll. Most of us have already made that same point. Those that haven't have the right to be optimistic about their team. We don't mind you guys coming to visit but if you're gonna be here make sure you guys keep it cordial. Or, at least provide some form of insight/conversation along with your statements. This might look like your friendly neighborhood Lakers board, and it can be, but it can get real nasty in here, real quick, for someone attempting to troll.

I'd say that was due to the trash comment, and no the Jazz don't look like trash

I like the matchup actually, though. Mozgov has the size to bang with Gobert and enough offense to keep him from cheating too much. We also have a big back court and Randle is a menace when he plays like last week. Team rebound tenacity and turnovers are key for the lakers.

If we win, I'll guess depth will have been a factor for us.
