Sorry, but I gotta add some perspective to this board. I don't think many of you don't understand how good Utah is defensively. But, aside from that, do you guys know that after how bad we shot during the entire game if D'Angelo hits that late wide-open 3 pointer (A shot he's completely capable of making, and a shot that rimmed out btw) we're down by 1 with .40 secs to go. Hell, if they don't take away Jordan's 3 (they also took away D'Angelo's assist on that 3) we're down by 1 with .40 secs to go.
Both of our young studs had the worse shooting night they've had since probably either of them have been drafted, and we were 1 or 2 plays away from winning this game. Yall need to chill. Some of you are "numb", some of you sound "depressed", some of you are "haunted". Yall need to shake that crap off. We got a lot more season to go, and if 1 win has you expecting 50 wins this season, or if 1 loss has you "depressed" then yall need to see a doctor. We have waaaay more season to go. To paraphrase the words of the the great (lol) Byron Scott "Man the f**k up". C'mon, shake that crap off. We're gonna have some down nights, but we also have a lot to look forward to. Let's put this one aside and get to the next one.
Mijalovic has the next game thread. No worries... in Mirj we trust! (No pressure Mirj lol)

Gus McCrae wrote:Having a chance and not getting blown out are good starts. The guys are gonna make mistakes and miss free throws because they're young. I'm happy with what I'm seeing. That said, Russell is worrying me a bit with his inconsistency and I generally don't get a good vibe from him. On the flip side, Randle, Clarkson and even Huertas have pleasantly surprised me.
I give Utah credit they put a bigger guy on russel at times and made it a point to key in on him. They had a stifling defense and gober out classed mozgov. That said Russell was off and his shot was bad. Utahs defense was good. This is a road game so its going to be hard for these young guys to get pumped up on the road. They are going to have to learn how to win on the road.
We need stellar games from Russell/Clarkson/Randle to win on the road. We certainly cant win if they all have a bad game. But the fact that this game was close even though they all played bad is a good sign.
The foul calls really slowed this game down and that hurt our fast paced game too. Everything went bad but it was still close.

Calderon upgraded to probable as well. His floor spacing compared to Huertes should be a big boost

Re: October 28, 6:00PM PST SpecSN: Lakers @ Jazz GAME 2
Jazz really gave us fits. Despite that....we managed to get plenty of good looks. Our offense will certainly not be a problem moving forward. We have so many guys who can create.
I was really surprised to only be down by a handful with a minute or two left, the way we were playing.
Personally, I think alot of people need to chill. We aren't a playoff team. Just get it. Sit down and relax. Mozgov is on the team..like it or not. He had a bad game, but so did just about everyone else. There's gonna be at least 15-20 of these this season. Enjoy that NEW TEAM smell while it lasts. Seriously.....sit down and relax.
I hate to say this (I hate that I feel I have to say this)....but this isn't a f**ing movie. There's no guarantee of a victory in 3 years. We may not have the pieces right now, but it takes a while to see. Go ask OKC. Where's their title? Remember all that promise 6-7 years ago? Remember those 05-06 Suns? Those late-90's Blazers certainly thought they had something didn't they? It happens. Teams don't come in some 'easy recipe' box. We may have 2-3 of the future Laker HoFers on our roster right now, and yet never get past the Warriors. This team (and us fans) are owed nothing.
It just boggles me how angry some of you are over a sh**t game by our youngsters. Mozgov had 8-points and 6-boards. I will sit here right now and PROMISE you that he won't get fired today. You can bet on it. Your gonna see him Sunday, whether you like it or not. So you can sit there with your arms folded, pouting....you can go watch something else...or you can grab a beer chill out...and watch this team grow. Blaming Luke for his rotations is worthless. Nobody was doing well!! It's game 2 with these guys...he's trying stuff out! Get over all the "we should be here...we should win this" nonsense, and just enjoy the process.
Or don't...it's extra grey hairs on your head...not mine.

That good news is worth 10 of our bad games, IMO. Win or lose....we need that guy on the floor growing. Hope it was nothing. If Luke wanted to rest him tmrw, I'd not hold it against him. I def don't want the guy going down. One missed game is nothing.

They didn't review it for whether it was 2 or 3, but rather whether he was inbounds or not. They CAN do that. If you look at the replay the ref shows the signal for review to the table right away(presumably so they'd know what they would be reviewing) and at the next stoppage of the game they reviewed it. It just happened that this stop was several minutes after the shot. They in fact reviewed it the first chance they got.
Well that makes it a different situation then, I can get behind the fact that they thought he was out of bounds but weren't sure so they called for a review. But reviewing if it was a 2 or a 3 then saying "oh crap he was out of bounds no basket" doesn't make sense to me.

Jeez a lot of the haters came out after this game. DLo laid an egg which equates to him being a "dumbass that can't play basketball" or "Luke Walton is a utter disappointment so far", please just crawl back to your hole and stay there. We need to support this YOUNG group.

Re: October 28, 6:00PM PST SpecSN: Lakers @ Jazz GAME 2
I really think we could've had this game even with how piss poor we played, especially D'lo's defense on George hill...
Honestly, I think a huge factor was actually the Salt Lake altitude. The fact that d'lo went 2/5 even from the free throw line kind of points to that. Traditionally Salt Lake and Denver have huge home court advantage due to their altitudes. So I take that loss as good training for us. I really think we've leap frogged teams in the phoenix/houston/utah tier.

Re: October 28, 6:00PM PST SpecSN: Lakers @ Jazz GAME 2
I just watched the game on the DVR. Not a good own at all. The game in Russell's head is a lot better than the one on the floor. He''s been hyped up all over the place and had better start producing consistently or the pressure will set in.
Clarkson was off as well.
That said, the Utah defense is really pretty good and they are a disciplined team. Fundamentals, and discipline are the foundation of a good defense. Not a surprise that the "old" guys looked better on the road against a good defensive team.
The team struggles to score to inside consistently. I like Mozgov's contributions but I'd also like to see us get Zubac some time soon. He looks like he could be a consistent inside scoring threat and we need that.
This team will not win more than 25 to 30 games so ugly losses will be fairly regular. My hope is that we see growth in the young guys. They had excuses last year with coaching and Kobe but this year they get the spotlight.

I take back what I said about the team being stacked with talent that creating mismatches with isos will work if nothing is happening. I'd still gladly take smooth ball movement than isos and PnRs burning the clock and ending with forced shots or passes.
Hope Ingram plays next game.
