GT: Pelicans vs. Spurs

Post#1 » by Nolan » Fri Oct 28, 2016 8:25 pm

When: 6:00 PM MT, Oct 29th 2016
Where: AT&T Center, San Antonio TX

Time for the home opener!!

This games going to be another tough test for our interior defense and LMA. Davis was unstoppable in the Pelicans first game (50 points 16 boards) and we're going to need to find a way to contain him.

Also this game should be a prime opportunity for Tony to have a big game. I like Tim Frazier and Langston Galloway but neither one of them are starting caliber players and Tony should be able to exploit both of them.

Go Spurs!!

Let's get it. Pels will be on the second night of a B2B, with the first being against some bay-area team that might be kind of good. It'll be interesting to see what Gentry does with AD's minutes in both these games, since they're both tough ones. You know AD's going to want to prove himself in both games since they're high-profile opponents and the eyes of NBA nation are on him to prove he can be durable and consistent this year.

It's too early to be sleeping on teams, so here's hoping the good guys get up for this one-- and I agree with Nolan, that a strong game from Tony would be marvelous to see.

Agreed. The B2B could definitely be a factor. The starters can't come out flat again, jumping on them early could really make a massive difference.

this is the game where everyone who has struggled so far to be padding their stats to even out the law of avgs in the first week that they had a good week when in truth they suck

Manu and TP are not playing: resting for tomorrow.

More playing time for Laprovittola/Forbes/Murray. Hope we can contain AD

Going to be interesting to see how we look without Parker.

6 mins in, Mills looking good and great to see Pau taking and making long twos and threes.

Leonard showing he is still not used to being the main go to scorer, they are doubling him and he is forcing dribbles, shots and already made some bad passes.

Anthony Davis is just automatic, I love his game so much. Just wish he got some help. Reminds me a lot of David Robinson back in the day.

No Manu or Parker and so far we've looked pretty solid.

Patty's been great, Gasol's hitting some shots and Kawhi's been doing a nice job setting up others.

Also Lapro looks great so far.

That Simmons putback, my goodness. Such a shame it didn't count. He spiked it like a volleyballer!

How refreshing and fun to see 4 rookies and one second year player on the court at once for this franchise.

And with guys like Simmons, Murray, Bertans we have an entertaining (and deep!) bench. What a time to be a Spurs fan.

And although New Orleans aren't a great team, I think we saw just how beneficial it is to have a point guard with three point range out there and someone who doesn't hold the ball too much.

There are signs tonight that we might just be a better team with Parker and Green on the bench.

I didn't get to see the game, but that box score sure looks nice. Great to see us cool AD off a little bit from his fiery start to the season.

Looks like Pau had a solid all-around game-- 9/8/5 in 22 minutes.

Nice to see a three by Pau and Aldridge, helps attract the D and create space.

Great win last night. Kawhi had a quite first half offensively but put the game out of reach in the third, he did struggle a bit with the double teams New Orleans sent his way and Hill did do a really good job guarding him.

It was also great to see the rookies get decent minutes early on as well. Lapro looked solid but the other three were a bit shakey, but the talent and potential are definitely there.

Also nice to see Pau have a good game. He really showed off his offensive arsenal and he seemed to be a little more into the game on both ends.
