I'm reading the tobias harris trade thread. It's funny seeing the people who were for it. Maybe I'll get some quotes.

Here's some quotes from me so you all know how against this I was.

SVG is a talented coach, and a talented GM. Respect. He just took Harris for Jennings LOL

Standard move we should expect from the Magic - It all routes back to Devos. We get a new promising GM that looks like he is fixing the ship, and when things don't go exactly as planned (not living up to the .500 expectation this season) Alex Martins and the Devos family step in and blow our assets accumulated by Hennigan for aging vets. Then the blame all routes back on Hennigan or ANY GM we have for that matter. I love it.

Here's my response to idiots saying it was purely for cap space.

Wait. If illysova and jennings aren't part of the future, why didn't we just move him for a 1st round pick????????

HORRIBLE TRADE.

Ersan Illysova (sp?) is NOT special.

So everyone needs to calm the hell down. Neither side was "robbed" here. A little extra change will ultimately be in the pocket of one side but the magnitude of talent being swapped is too little to really care.

This trade was about fit for both sides. It makes sense.

^

There are several more posters on here that were totally for that trade but I won't quote them for the sake of argument. I thought what MagicFan101 said was especially hilarious, though. I lost respect of certain posters opinions after reading through some pages on that thread.

Now all I Hear is Omg Omg Omg we got rid of all our young assets, when back when we had them everyone wanted to trade them and win now.

When we had the assets we wanted to trade them... Then when we trade them we are like.... What are you thinking???

Winning is the only remedy. The answer is never right until you win. Ownership listened to our disgruntled fans and started the win now attitude. It's not ownerships fault, if we didn't bitch and moan about the "process" we would still have our young assets, now everyone lies and says they loved Tobias and they loved dipo... Don't give me that crap. You all lie.

Ready to dump Vuc for expiring garbage? It's in Rob's DNA to dump young players on smart contracts for nothing.

I will say it was more ownership, but the team is very cognizant that they were losing the town to Orlando City. They don't want to be a distraction from January to April after football ends but before soccer starts. They want to get back to their status in town.

There was an interesting study done and they counted around the city over the span of a couple of weeks and Orlando City shirts, jerseys, hats, etc outnumbered Magic gear almost 4 to 1. That is a huge problem. How do you correct it? You start winning again.

Wonder who encompassed those focus groups. Commenters in the Orlando Sentinel articles, season ticket holders, or the hardcore nightly watchers. Also find it interesting that they needed a focus group to learn this kind of information.

It's a curious action to take. Presumably the rebuild was sanctioned for the purposes of building a winning product? It would seem that this sort of endeavor would be for the purpose of acquiring information that supports a particular course of action. Abandoning the rebuild in an effort to get back to the playoffs quickly would mean the decision to strip the roster after the Howard departure was a dreadful and self-defeating strategy.

Every team does focuses groups every offseason. Standard practice.

A focus group sounds like a very Martins-esque strategy. It demonstrates (as if we didn't already know) that they expected the ship to turn round a lot quicker after Dwight left OR they hoped to be in a position similar to the T-Wolves where they have one, possibly two future stars, to promote to the fanbase.

What's amusing to me is that for all the criticism the Sixers got during the Hinkie years, they actually have more of what the Magic want than the Magic do.
