Re: Shoots for three.... GOT IT!
Smart approach to the game. manufactoring offense by increasing the amount of percentage, and take an enormous number of efficient (3point) attempts. early results are good. 7th in the league offensively (super small sample) without much from lopez in 2 of those games

Re: Shoots for three.... GOT IT!
I expect the 3s to rain all season long... it's the appropriate strategy for this team, and they're also a very good 3-point shooting team. They'll continue to throw up 3s, knowing that they need to maximize the three-ball to cover up for their lack of overall talent.
That said, when watching the game, it's pretty clear that they need to stay away from the three-ball in certain stretches, when the spacing is off on their motion sets. Sometimes their motion offense is all out of wack and the defense is completely keyed in on it, but they continue running it, resulting in chucking 3s instead of the good treys created from ball-movement.
In those times, I find that when they eventually switch to their offense to being centered around Pick N Rolls/Brook's post-ups, their pace slow downs, and they settle down properly. After a bit of mixing and matching outside of the motion offense, they reintroduce the motion sets to the mix, and then all of their sets run much better. This is mainly the result of giving the defense different looks, which makes the team harder to defend, and partially because they've reset their own mentalities to calm down.
Basically, the threes are good, and they should let them fly. But they have to develop the nuance to know when to switch from that strategy and mix it up. They have a legitimate (but unlikely) shot to win most games if they can balance their offense throughout the game. I believe that at some point (sooner than later), the team will eventually be able to balance their offense properly on most nights, since they've already made progress on it in just three games. Most games should be competitive, which is impressive given their lack of talent.
The collective talent of this team is about 25 wins IMO. They have one of the harder schedules in the league though, so adjusting for that, their talent says that they should net about 22 wins. I had them at 27 wins though, because I thought this team would overachieve with Lin's playmaking, and I thought Atkinson would maximize all of their talent. These things seem to be becoming a reality, so 27 wins sounds about right (barring injury or a Lopez trade). In a best case scenario, I can see them winning 30-31 games.

On October 31, 2009, against the Kings, a bat descended onto the court causing a stoppage of play. As the bat flew past, Ginóbili swatted the bat to the ground with his hand. He then carried the creature off the court, earning the applause of the crowd.

Let the bombs fly. We saw how good our offense can be when we mix the 3 ball with Brook-Lin.
This team is going to open eyes across the league.

Re: Shoots for three.... GOT IT!
I've been begging for this sort of offense for so long until Kidd left and that idiot hired a coach in Hollins who thinks it's still 1975.
The last time the Nets had a consistently good three point shooting season was 2013 when Brook went down and Jason Kidd put Pierce at the four. Our entire offense became "space and pace" we finished the second half of that season 35-17 with a 15 game home streak at Barclays. Second round of the playoffs.
It's what works today. It's a modern day offense and it's how basketball is supposed to be played.

You give yourself a chance at a three point play by driving in the paint and threes will fly if the paint isn't open. You're a six point threat by doing that.
We should be able to sustain the consistency because we have actual shooters. They may not be talented in other facets of the game but their shot is their livelihood. We have LeVert coming was is a career 40% three point shooter at Michigan and Randy Foye has always been a serviceable shooter even if he had a down year.
I do think the attempts have to be in stretches. We've seen too many settled threes that lead to a fast break opportunity for the opponent.
I'm sure Kenny will reel it in a little bit once Brook is back in the lineup. I think we saw a great balance against Indiana but on nights where Brook is resting we most likely have to shoot it a lot more to compete.

Only thing we need to do better is shoot well out of the gate. We started each of our last 2 games 0-7 from three (possibly more, but I remember the announcers saying 0-7 specifically both nights). Either we have to get into rhythm first, and then ease our way into our 3pt chucking, or we just keep chucking from the start and hope it gets better as the season goes on. Either way, it'll be fun to watch.

Prok you should update this stat line every game if you have the chance I want to see a game by game development on these numbers.

Do you want Booker, RHJ to keep chucking threes?

RHJ should opt for mid range shots.

Ehh...not too keen on updates after every game - after every week seems more appropriate

I'm actually fine with Lopez, Booker, and RHJ taking occasional 3s. I don't want them living on the 3 point line though. And so far, aside from Lopez in game 1, KA has done a good job of playing to each players strengths.

This.
It doesn't hurt the team to have them take a wide open shot from time to time. But Lopez should get his points exactly how we saw in the Indiana game, RHJ needs to get attempts going to the rim and pull up jumpers in the mid range where his shot doesn't look disjointed, and Booker can just keep doing what he's doing because he's this team's motor hands down.

i think this may also be because we have better 3 point shooters on the bench... so when they come in it heats up
starters: bogs is 38-40% but incosnistent especially on the road in past years. Lin is low 30's. beyond that RHJ cant shoot threes, booker isnt a great option and lopez just started doing it.
Bench: Harris, Scola, Hamilton, Skil, Grevis are all mid to high 30% if not 40+ percent from three.
