at the break, whats the prediction? (chime in)

Post#1 » by Pharmcat » Mon Jul 9, 2007 1:23 am

10 back in east

8.5 back in WC

are the Yanks done? yes or no? and why?

i think they are done, UNLESS we start of on fire after ASG break and win 10 in a row and put pressure on the other teams.....I think getting Hughes back will be key, and of course Bobby and Cano and Damon (all leftys) need to turn it on big time

I think they will play better and keep us interested into September, but will fall a little short. I could see having a win total in the low 90's and still missing the playoffs. Our best chance would be Cleveland faltering because I just don't see Bos/Det/Laa not making it.

The Yankees will make Boston sweat cuz they r comin back and not goin down w/o a fight and i do think they need 2 start a streak rite after the ASG because they r teams we should beat.

Unless they go something like 22-5 in that 27 game stretch, I think they're done. They really have to come out hot after the break.

The Yankees will cut it to within 5-6 by the time we face the Red Sox. Then we will decimate them like last year. They will fall flat on their face for a myriad of reasons and we will go to the playoffs by way of winning the AL East and then go on to win the world series on the current hot streak. At least that is what I want to happen. What will happen is probably quite different but at the same time, a similar situation, though not as dire, seems to happen year in and year out for the past couple of years now. The Red Sox jump out to a big lead in the division, the Yankees don't show up until the all-star break, then the Red Sox get burnt out, injured, hit with bad luck, or some combination while the Yankees get healthy, regain confidence, get a big boost through trade, waiver-wire signee or a player back from injury and make a big push and win. Boring, been there, done that. Let's get to the playoffs and win the world series.

Please note that was a rose-colored prediction -Jitpal

imo, they need atleast 20-8 against these .500 teams coming up, but then look who they play again

det for 4games
@ angels for 3 games
@det for 4 games
bos for 3 games

if they go atleast 20-8 against those under 500 teams and then split the det/laa/det/bos games they have a shot, but when was the last time the yankees went 20-8 this season?

1 game at a time fellas, this is how you gotta look at it, if you still believe.

Doesn't mean it won't happen. They showed some signs of life vs. us (AZ), but when I think about it, who hasn't? :-?

the thing is it might not be enough even with 20-8. boston has a schedule just as easy as ours. i think they play like 10 against tampa over the final two months and a bunch against the royals and orioles.

Shouldn't we be .500 right now because we were winning in the game vs. Baltimore that got suspended which I don't understand. If a team is winning after 5 innings or something and it is raining and they cancel the game, don't that team win be default? So why was our game suspended?

The first thing that needs to be done is get Bobby Abreu out of Right Field, trade him for Jermaine Dye or something, at least Dye plays defense. Second, our bullpen needs to get rested and get ready to go for the second half of the year. The injuries to our starters in the beginning of the season hurt the bullpen more than anyone realizes. Third, Arod Jeter and Jorge need to continue swinging the bat. Matsui can't tail off like he did during the tail end of that west coast trip through the Oakland series. Fourth, we need to remember the wild card is going to be tough. Yeah were closer than the division but there are too many teams to jump in front of. Someone has to win, remember that.

We were losing at the end of the previous inning, had we failed to take the lead, the game would have reverted back to that point ending in a loss. Since we took the lead in the top of the inning, it can not become official until Baltimore has their final at bats. I believe the game was suspended in the top of the 8th inning. When we head back to Baltimore we will resume the game where we left off. If we can hold them it will count as a win.

The 1st game of da second half could very well be the way the Yanks will apporach the half.
