Realistic Free Agent Targets - 2017 Off-Season
Other than Blake Griffin, who should we go after?
Are there any good ones out there?
What about trades, who should Riley go after?
This team won't be a contender if we are starting both Winslow and Richardson.
We would need a starting caliber 2 or 3 if we got Blake.
Whiteside/Griffin/Winslow/Richardson/Dragic is a good team but not a contender.
Bring in a starting 2 or 3 and have Winslow or Richardson, along with Reed and Tj off the bench and you have a contender.

I haven't given up on Winslow and JRich.
Dragic is the best trade piece and the one we would do best without - we won 2 titles with Mario.

Re: Realistic Free Agent Targets - 2017 Off-Season
Blake is the only real piece that is worth wild as far as free agency goes. Even thou there is no rumors or hint of it. I like to keep an eye on John Wall. I am expecting Miami to be a mid top ten lotto team and I am expecting Washington to disappoint and not make the playoffs again. I could see Wiz wanting to shake things up if this happens again. I think Miami will be in a situation to make a major player move for like a John Wall. The Heat will have Cap Space, Young Players, Draft Pick, Good to very good veterans in Whiteside, Dragic and Tj to use as chips. But we are very early into the Heat rebuild period. I think we will be out of the Blake race unless we do add a marquee player like John Wall. Ideally as of right now, the only big addition worth looking forward to next summer is the draft pick.

jrich is fine, we need a stretch 4 that can shoot 40% from 3 and play defense.

Re: Realistic Free Agent Targets - 2017 Off-Season
Among the realistic targets, Danilo Gallinari intrigues me quite a bit. 28 years old. A legit 6'10 and highly skilled. Would fit seamlessly as a stretch 4 sandwiched in between Hassan & Justise. He's got a sneaky good post up game as well. Pretty efficient all around. Not a bad defender. Good fit overall. But there are durability issues there was well, with a history of knee injuries. So it's a gamble when we're talking about likely a near max deal to nab him.
I imagine Rudy Gay will be in play as well.

Paul Mislap is a free agent we could afford. Hayward is also intriguing. I believe getting from Blake from LA is going to be difficult. Gallinari intrigues but he seems to always be hurt.

If coupled with either Blake or Millsap, CP3 makes the most sense. For one, he'd be a natural pairing with Whiteside, and when complimented with either of the aforementioned, it would immediately propel Mia into contention. He's getting older and is always gonna be an injury concern which is why I would only strongly pursue him if Mia is able to land another big fish.

Well, if Lebron himself could forgive Dan Gilbert and resume his career in Cleveland then anything is possible with regards to him giving his blessings to his buddies to play down here.

Good for the Heat and Rockets but why would the Kings do this?

Rich Paul is Wall's agent, take him off the list guys
Based off where I project Rich/Justise/Hassan to be, we're a power forward away from being able to contend in the East

Cause what do you expect the Kings to get for those two?

Re: Realistic Free Agent Targets - 2017 Off-Season
It's only been three games, but I'm convinced Justise Winslow will be a fine STARTING SMALL FORWARD in this league. This team needs guards, shooters, and distributors.

I'll first say that it's totally within that franchise's wheelhouse to blunder and make a self-destructive roster decision. But let's assume that they've wised up. Your proposed trade downgrades their current talent level and in addition fails to address their future. I just don't see how a GM could rationalize making such a move.

You are working under the impression that Gay and Collison command such value. They do not. Kings imo should be happy in getting suitable replacements on cheap longer term deals such as Brewer and Beverly who replace Gay (Free Agent) and Collison (Free Agent). Kings have a hard enough time getting free agents to go there and let alone have to over pay by a country mile to get anyone of value to even consider them.

We won 2 titles with Rio because we had LBJ at point forward, as well as Wade playing as the distributor at times as well. This allowed Rio to play as an off guard. If Heat get rid of Dragic, who sets up the plays? Winslow? JR? TJ? None of whom at this point have Gorans skill at point, nor experience.
I think the Heat for the past three years haven't been set back by the talent they have been able to have on their payroll. They have been set back due to a serious illness to their top player. If Bosh was healthy these past three seasons, there is no question in my mind we would have seen Cavs - Heat in the ECFs.
Once Bosh is off the payroll, Riley will work his magic once more. However, this will only occur if players that can help the team win now (like Dragic) are on the roster.
Long post summarized: it's not the absence of talent on this roster, it's the amount of cap space used on an injured player that is holding the Heat back. Heat shouldn't (and won't) go making moves just to make them.
You have to understand HIF, hates Dragic's game

Dragic is a good player, I see no reason to trade him unless its needed to get a marquee player. The Heat will not need salary caproom so no need to trade him for that.
