If you're a Browns fan, you have to be thinking, "there has to be a catch".

Definitely a little bit of a head scratcher to me. For a compensatory third, which could wind up being a fourth? Not sure what New England was seeing with this one, but he could be a huge help to the Browns.

Lol. My first and only reaction to this trade had nothing to do with thinking the Browns must have gotten a nice player. I simply thought, "I wonder what is wrong with this guy that we don't know about."

You know that the Cleveland Browns didn't just get the best of the New England Patriots. It just seems on the surface like a really nice deal for them.

I read an article earlier, or at least saw a headline saying the Pats should consider trading Collins. Not sure why, but it was probably on espn.

I'm reading he wants big money. Real big money. Stupid big money.
Money the Patriots aren't giving him. But I'm sure there is some idiot team that will.
After all - Dan Snyder still owns the Redskins.

Re: Jamie Collins traded to Cleveland
Collins has been getting fat cat/contract year syndrome for some time now, despite his big name rep across the league as an established star LB.
He free lanced on the first big play NE gave up to Buffalo on Sunday, apparently he's shown the typical contract year signs (going for the flashy plays at the expense of team play which I would liken to a .100 home baseball hitter that hits 30+ HRs a year), and they have his ready made replacement ready to go (minus the ability to drop back into coverage) in Elandon Roberts.
A shocking trade no doubt, but not the first one BB's made (Milloy, Seymour, Moss, Welker, Asante, Mankins, Jones).
A part of me feels this is also to send a message to the defense. Namely that no matter what kind of clout you may have, no individual is above the team. And obviously the recent trade fro the Detroit LB along with the Mingo trade tells me it will be LB by committee to replace Collins, who has been wildly inconsistent this year.

We didn't trade Welker or Asante. They left as free agents. Outside of that, your facts seems to be straight.

Some team will be dumb enough to do it. I'm just trying to figure out how did he end up comparing himself to Von Miller. Players are getting delusional now a days.

Always a fool out there. I'm just happy the Cowboys are so far in Salary Cap hell next season that there's no freakin' chance they go after him.

How's that Mingo trade looking thus far?

Mingo is only 25 years old. He can still develop into a good player.
The Browns look terrible though.

Apparently even players like McCourty are wondering why NE did this because they saw Collins as "best player on defense".

There have been a lot of different occasions where a move looked like a head scratcher at first. Did anyone hear much from Lawyer Milloy after they moved him? Did they ever miss Wes Welker when they let him walk? They either expected him to start becoming a headache or they didn't think what he did was going to warrant his price tag after 2016. Whichever the case, they have rarely or never lost a high profile player without having a plan in place. This is the same team that decided to convert a decent WR into a CB to adequately fill a hole in the secondary. Keep an eye on this guy after the initial burst of motivation from being traded wears off.

Skills good. Skills diminished. Locker room standout. Locker room cancer. Who knows. Who cares. But you guys should listen to yourselves. Brady should stand up to the man! Tom should fight! Now when Collins is fighting for good money and a good contract for himself. You guys turn back to siding with THE MAN! And sound like Roger goodell discciples. Siding with owners and against players rights for good contracts. Some of you even sounding as if the dude was a cancer. LOL.

I just know this. Bill Belichick knows his team way better than anyone else. If he thinks this move benefits his team then who am I to argue?

Re: Jamie Collins traded to Cleveland
No problem with Jamie Collins wanting his money, but at the same time, I have no problem with the Patriots not wanting to pay him that money and moving him for what they can get. I'm sure there's a team out there that will pay him, it just won't be the Patriots. Win-win for both sides.
What I don't like is Collins free-lancing on defense...first of all, that hurts his value, and second of all, that leads to the situation you have here, where you're suddenly moved mid-season.

I can picture Bill walking into the locker room after the trade and asking the team "Does anyone else want Von Miller money?'
