Re: Whats going on with Brandon Ingram?
How are you guys jumping to such quick conclusions?? Ingram has looked fine in his time on the court. He is a smart player, doesnt try to do too much, has good defensive instincts, and is trying to get acclimated to NBA play. He has played 2 games...he left the other game after hurting his knee and only played a few minutes. If he hits his next 2 3s he's suddenly shooting 37.5% from 3 rather than 16.6...and you guys aren't worrying about him.

Ya can be kinda hard to watch the Lakers sometimes right now. It seems like if the ball goes to Clarkson he is no doubt going to shoot it. Right now it just seems like Clarkson, Randle and Russell are all trying to prove how good they can be, instead of trying to make the team the best. I dont think its that bad of a thing since LA are not contenders this year and theyre young. But ya Ingram can go 5-6 possessions straight without ever getting the ball or even getting looked at.
Kind of Ingram's own fault. He doesn't move much without the ball hence why they are having him run the second unit at times. As for the Clarkson comment, i completely agree, there's no getting the ball back once he gets it. Especially when he's been placed in a role where he's expected to provide offense off the bench.

Oh I agree its also on Ingram. He needs to learn to move better, but I also think the Lakers are filled with a few young guys trying to get theirs and show they belong in the league. Russell, Randle and especially Clarkson can get massive tunnel vision. But again the Lakers are a young team and arent expected to do much, so I dont think its a bad thing for them to find out what their players are capable of.
With that said, I think getting their 1st round pick and getting a top 3 pick in this draft would be great for them in he long haul. Add lets say Josh Jackson or Fultz to this team to go withRussell and Ingram and even Randle and Clarkson, I think big time FA will be more likely to sign and that would be one hell of a young core.

They literally just followed him around, he wasn't skipping practices to cut film.

i'm 100% in favor of allowing kids to jump from hs to the nba, but i just dont get if he had such disdain for the ncaa he could have played pro in australia for one year, its not like anything changed from when he made his commitment to lsu and this past june, only thing happened was pundits got on him for his team being crappy. Wonder what the angle of this would be if they went to the final four and his team was actually good, like he probably thought it was going to be end up.

I love Ben, but I laugh at how Hollywood he's been since being in the US. Ben better hope he lives up to the hype when he gets on the court (which I do have a lot of faith in, but he's far from a finished product, needs to improve as a scorer).
Feels pretty self indulgent to make a documentary like this.. he's great and worthy of the #1 pick, but it's not like he's the undisputed best prospect in the last decade or anything. He's arguably even the better prospect out of him and Embiid.
Fair game trying the prep to pro's point, there's definitely an argument for allowing it, but at the end of the day, you're going through the same process all the other top prospects have had to. Playing in college for a year isn't the end of the world (and I don't blame him for not caring about his studies). He had a great year at LSU but better than handling it like this would've been going out there and winning LSU more games.

Documentary crew was filming him since high school, I'm sure we'll get his opinions about going to college prior to it as well.
Pundits got on him for his team being crappy, sure, but he still put up personal numbers - both raw and advanced - against NCAA competition worthy of being a top pick. Who knows what teams would have done if they don't get to see that.

Also I think Ingram has looked pretty solid when you think about his age and size. Hes playing good D already (arguably the Lakers best perimeter defender already) and seems to moving pretty well. Give the guy a couple years to get some weight and he should be pretty good. I can see him contending for all stars down the road.
I'm just not seeing it that way this season. Last season? Sure. This year they move the ball wayyyy better. They iso more when they fall behind, because they're young and undisciplined, but their defense steps up at the same time. That's what has made them a scrappier team. They fall behind, nail a few 3's, create turnovers, and then they're back in it again. Last year it was iso iso iso, whether they were ahead or behind, and no defense whatsoever.
Regarding Ingram, I agree with you. He's a better defender than I expected. His movements are fluid, he's a team player, nice touch on his shot, and I really like that he's not afraid to mix it up in the paint despite his thin frame. I think he could start right now but the Lakers are smart to bring him along slowly so he doesn't burn out under a heavy workload.

I heard Rubio suffered an elbow injury. That's unfortunate for him, but this gives Dunn the chance to show his worth. If he starts I'm looking forward to what he can do with the other starters, enjoyed watching him play in Summer League.

Great game from Embiid, but man he blew it for his team in straight 3 possessions. Two costly turnovers and an unfortunate tip to Ibaka at the end.

Embiid will likely win ROY but if he wasn't elligble, Kris Dunn would take it. Too bad

Just ignore this guy. I visit the draft board from time to time and I've seen him bash Ingram all the time last season. He's been doing it just to hype up Simmons. Very sad tbh.
