Ersan traded to 76ers for Grant
Poor Ersan, he must be feeling unloved of late?

I'm going to be honest, I don't understand the trade from either side.

Re: Ersan traded to 76ers for Grant
I get it for Oklahoma City. They really like Sabonis and Grant gives them another option at SF as well as a small-ball/up-tempo PF which is something they didn't have (I think). Given what we saw from Ilyasova last season I think his value as a shooter is vastly overstated and isn't a good player overall.
Kind of weird for Philadelphia though. They do get closer to the cap floor by adding salary but the 1st round pick supposedly has heavy protections. I can kind of see letting Grant go since they have Covington, Saric, and eventually Simmons at the forward spots but this isn't much value for him. I might be a bit higher on Jerami than most though.

Well, the Thunder might want more youngsters to run with Westbrook, and the 76ers get a veteran shooter?

I've posted in both threads about this on the T&T board, but to sum up, Ersan is utterly useless and Rotoworld is even speculating that PHI will cut him. This also opens up like $7M in cap space for the Thunder, so a follow up move may be in the works for them.

Philly likes to collect draft picks. I feel like the Thunder can get similar production that Ersan is doing, out of other guys on their team. Grant also honestly might be better. Also maybe the Sixers are below the cap floor, prior to this.
With Ersan on the books, the Sixers now only have over $24 mil of cap room. And the Thunder are almost even now. I think like $200,000 over.

Pistons get Tobias Harris without attaching a 1st rounder. Thunder attach one to him to land Grant. Lol I love SVG

Yeah, we really bent Orlando over on that one.

SVG is #1 in steals over Ricky, Paul, Curry and Westbrook.

I personally think Philly want him for more than on the court contributions
And after tying up Dipo & Adams the Thunder need to clean their pay roll for a bit.
Grant is a good player, with room to grow too

Some OKC fans think that it's to shed salary to make room for a Rudy Gay trade. Apparently they really like Gay for some reason.

Which is strange. Gay is a slasher, exactly what they don't need. They need shooting and they need it bad.

Honestly they just need someone to help score the ball period. They can't keep using WestBrook like this all season long.

Rumor doesn't look particularly substantiated. We'll see I guess.
