Lakers @ Pacers
Pacers look to bounce back at BLF against the LA Lakers. LA is just like us. Won opening night at home and then lost 2 on the road. Got to see them a bit on League Pass and they are exciting to watch. I got a good feeling (and hope) that we come out ready to play!

Myles should be licking his chops. He has the potential to eat Mozgov alive. Wouldn't be surprised to see Randle cover him some.

Re: Lakers @ Pacers
Hopefully Teague can get out of the shooting funk soon. Almost 8 assists a game which is great. But, 20% from the field not so great. Also hoping we can take a step forward defensively.

Just saw a tweet that Aaron Brooks will make his Pacers debut tonight. Hopefully, that helps the 2nd unit take a step forward.

Nice! Can't disagree with either of your choices, though. Will be interesting to see if Teague can get his shot back on track, Brooks brings anything off the bench, and what Walton can do with that new young roster in LA.

Teague will find his shot. I'm a big believer in water eventually finding its level. I guess the main question is when does he find it? As I stated in another thread I've always been a Brooks fan. Maybe that's because I remember him slaying us in a Bulls uniform. I think he will be an asset off the bench, but the question is how ready is he to contribute coming off the injury. Walton and the Lakers are exciting. I have gotten a chance to watch them on League Pass (had some Draft Kings interest). Would be nice to get things going in the right direction tonight.

Monte Ellis makes me want to cry at times. The opportunity cost of his turnovers kills me.

Listening on the radio and this game is not making this traffic jam any easier.

I will say this, I liked the part where Ellis started but later subbed in and out and was playing with the bench. That's the right type of rotation to make.
There's not much else I liked. but yeah.

I really liked the tinkering that Nate made with the rotation last night. I liked what I saw out of Aaron Brooks in his first game action. CJ was really good off of the bench. PG was obviously really good. Offensively I thought it was a great night. Defensively, they got too many easy shots IMO. However, we kept them scoreless down the stretch to get the W.

Well, we won so that's good. But we didn't look good out there. We gotta improve.

That will be difficult. The should-be anchors of our defense are Al Jefferson and a kid about 3 years younger than anyone else on our roster. Our offense has a chance to be pretty good when it starts clicking, but defensively I see little hope this season we can get close to the defense we had in previous years.
Paul George asking for more effort defensively is going to help a bit but not much. Dan Burke can change something but not much.
Our defensive potential is just too limited and someone else has probably changed too much.
Not sure I need a reply on this one though, I still read some stuff on Pacersdigest

Re: Lakers @ Pacers
Absolutely our defense is worse. Should be a shock to no one that closely follows the team or basketball. We got rid of defense to acquire more offense. I get the impression from some Pacer fans that they thought our defense would stay the same and we were getting better offensively. Like we were combining our D from the past with the D'Antoni Suns teams. Not how it works. It would be nice if you could combine TX Tech offense with Michigan defense, but there is give and take. Also remember this is game 4 of 82 with a lot of new faces. Guys are still learning rotations, who to help off of, etc. That will improve with time.

Hearing Bird talk about defense and his defensive ace Dan Burke, I would rank Bird among the ones who would be shocked right now.
The Bulls have been pretty good. They have 3 new starters, the Pacers 2. They have new bench players too, just as ours.
Turner is still young, he needs time. Most of the others need more talent.
The big 3 in Boston kicked butts in their first games together, because they are talented and they were a good fit together.
The big 3 in Miami weren't championshiplevel from day one, because the fit wasn't that good. They didn't look awful either cuz they are obviously talented.
The Pacers have beaten 2 lottery teams at their home with much difficulty and with 2 individual excellent performances. They have lost a road game against another lottery team. They had a blow out loss against the only playoff team they have faced. It will take much more improvement than "getting to know eachother better" to make PG happy about the season.

I think Bird would be shocked at how bad the D is. I do not think he would be shocked that we have taken a step back. Maybe we will end up good, maybe we won't. We are 5 games into an 82 game season. The Miami team wasn't championship level? LOL! Anyways panic if you wish.... I choose to wait until we are a chunk into the season.

Yeah, if you still read my posts on PD then you know my stance on it. I agree that our defensive potential is not good. But damn, even I expect us to be better than 29th defensively. That's just terrible

I will say this, if the Lakers knock off the Warriors tonight then it'll make this win look a little better in hindsight I think.

A lot will depend on how quickly Turner starts to read offenses well. He is absorbing like a sponge but he is only 20 years old.
Improvement will come with chemistry but very small chance it will become better than below average and that ain't enough to win many rounds in the playoffs. Because we are bound to certain players like Monta and Jefferson and their salary, I'm not that positive about our defensive future either.
