These dudes don't get a game thread until they show we can bounce back from bad losses.

Prediction:

Nets will go off on the wrong foot, trailing behind early in the first quarter by 5-10 points. Nets will hang in there in the second, trailing only by 3-7 after the half. In the third quarter the lead will blow wide open, Pistons lead by 10-15. The Nets look like they will come back in the final quarter but are unable to. Pistons win by 5-12. Drummond will get more than a dozen rebounds.

Nets are 1 in 4 wins, so far Vegas is correct...

Another home game. Didn't we beat them in preseason?

So they won three at home but lost their one away game, um......

Most of their scoring come from the SF/PF spots, our strength defensively.

Ish Smith is obviously their biggest hole, with Reggie Jackson out.

Is Foye finally back? Can Vasq play?

The Pistons are on a B2B road game. They're not a 3-1 team. We need this one.

Coach need to do some PnR. Stop passing around the perimeter. Make the ball handler's job easier by setting screen.

I think this is a great test game for a couple reasons. One, they should be weakened because of their schedule, namely a B2B and on the road. We should be able to get a lot out of Lin and I hope to see a solid amount of PnR with Brook to challenge Drummond. I like the pace and shot selection we get but we just can't connect on a solid clip, a game like tonight could help us find the pace. I really like seeing Atkinson's system play out, and as the games go one, the guys will get more involved. I'm expecting a big game from RHJ because we'll need his defense to pull this out.

I imagine it will be a close game, and say we win by 3-5 points. This is 100% a confidence game, if we come in strong we can win, and use it to build off of. I just don't want 2 bad games in a row. I'll take a close game, but they have to be in it for all 48. We need to set a tone, especially at home

Whitehead looks shook IMO. I like his potential long term but he's not ready. We should waive Vasquez and bring in someone like Norris Cole who is available IMO.

Every time I see Brook at the 3pt line "spacing the floor" while Booker plays inside or PnR with Lin a part of my soul disappears from existence. For the love of the basketball gods PRETTY PEAS PLS play Lopez inside and not taking 3s. It's just madness.

I know it's early in the season but I feel this game is probably the most important game so far because it could set the narrative on either way when it comes to whether Brooklyn will fulfill prophecy of becoming one of the worst team of the league OR can they possibly do the unthinkable which is to make a run a the playoff.

If they can beat Detroit tonight and they're on the tail-end of a back-to-back schedule, Brooklyn would be 2-3 and getting 2 wins so early could give them a huge boost in confidence that they won't be as bad as predicted...I'm sure everyone expect them to be somewhere around 2-8 or even 1-9 in the first 10 games, so getting a few games so early with a tough schedule to start the season, could really surprise many.

With the Pistons on a back to back, there's no reason for the Nets not to come out with more energy than them. They need to show they can bounce back from a bad loss.

Whether they win or not, they need to show they can play with energy and not let last game affect them. Even if they lose, it can't be with a blowout like last game, not with the Pistons on a back to back and a rested Nets team.

Whitehead looked about as lost as any PG I've ever seen in over 30 years of watching the NBA. He could just pull a "Greivis" and just dump the ball into the post or initiate the motion offense by passing. Instead, he'll drive and lose the ball or throw cross-court passes that are intercepted, and then wipe his hands as if they are slippery. He's not even a potential high percentage shooter like a Isaiah Canaan or a driver like Kilpatrick. I'm not sure what skill Whitehead has. If he couldn't shoot above 38% FG in college, it's not likely he'll do that in the NBA, which is an automatic disqualifier. I can't think of any NBA player who stayed in the league too long shooting sub-40% FG. I guess Ricky Rubio but at least Rubio excels in defense and passing.

Whitehead played 21 minutes last game. I predict he plays less than 12, or even none, tonight unless it is garbage time

Actually, we are a 3-1 team, but with home wins over Orlando, Milwaukee, and the Knicks, it's certainly nothing impressive.

This is a winnable game for Brooklyn. Detroit is more talented, but not rested, and we're a typical young team that looks better at home. Frustrate Drummond and you have a chance. Brook Lopez needs to sack up and get ready to bang. Lin will get into the lane against Ish and Beno, so it's up to him to make the right decisions from there.
