GT: Jazz vs. Spurs

I finished watching the game... overall the team didn't play well, the box score says so... 30% from 3-pt.

Manu was really off, maybe out-of-gas? wasn't marking his assignment as fierce as he usually does

everytime TP enters the paint he just passes the ball to another guy exactly the same as Kyle Anderson. there you have 2 guys who are not contributing at all this season, in fact, Parker's 6 assists are the most from him during this season (link)

comparing Pau's performance from last game to this one, I repeat, seems to me he's not comfortable enough (yet at least) playing alongside Aldridge... but when I think of it, who should Popovich play? David Lee? Dewayne Dedmon? I'm not so sure if there's a guy who you could be certain would perform better than Pau at the start.


Other than that I believe this was a 'night off' for the spurs... they relaxed a little bit more than they should

once dg comes back will solve most of the teams issues, but the spurs are still playing 3 or 4on5 out there when either parker or anderson in on the floor trying to defend someone...doesnt help that neither player has a jumpshot to keep the defense honest...

Gino looks like 'Finals 2013 Gino'- worn-out but unaware that he's worn-out; once Green gets healed up and as the other backcourt components round into form, though, Gino's usage will decrease, so I'm not fretting about him. He isn't supposed to play big minutes this year, and is around mostly for the postseason and for his 'intangible' influence on the young pieces.

The problem is that he's never really been an offense-runner. At this point, Tony's primary value is that he knows the playbook like no other, and he can run the offense decently. Mills is a decent-but-streaky scoring point guard, but he's not the Pop-on-the-floor Tony's capable of being. I lean toward the theory that Tony's biggest problem is that he's still trying to play himself into '07-'13 mode, waiting for it to come.

Still, maybe you're right. I hate to use five games as the metric for wanting such a major lineup change, but now is the time in the season to try a Mills-for-Parker lineup switch if Pop's going to experiment with it.

Totally agree. Mills might not be the floor general that Tony is but Mills compliments and work well off of Kawhi and LMA whereas Tony at times drags them down. Our starting PG needs to compliment those two guys and make life easier for them, Mills does that right now and Tony well Tony doesn't.
