GT: Hornets @ Nets Fri Nov 4 7:30PM EST

Post#1 » by fatlever » Thu Nov 3, 2016 7:27 pm

What was expected to be the first of four exciting matchups between the Hornets and their old friend Jeremy Lin, is now much less intriguing. Lin is out with basically the same injury as his Jeremy brother.

Lamb out
Hibbert out

Lin out

Nets have been taking a ton of 3s so far this season. Brook Lopez even took 8 of them last night making 4. Do not sleep on Kilpatrick. He put up 24/10/2 with 2 steals mostly playing as Lin's replacement in the 2nd half vs Pistons.

Would have been nice to have Hibbert as an extra body to throw at Lopez.

lol @ our awkward social media team

With the millions of dollars the team and players have, I wonder why they have to carry their own food to the plane in cheap containers. Shouldn't there be a chef on board providing snacks? If anyone from the Hornets is listening I am available for hire!

Lin's a pussy.

Knew he'd do whatever it took to avoid having to play against Kemba. I'm not at all surprised he has an "injury" all of a sudden.

Coward.

I like that Nic came prepared with two plates of food. Wonder what it is, and if it's Diaw recommended.

Just dropped the incredibly disappointing Stanley Johnson for Sean Kilpatrick in dynasty. Figured I'd see where this goes for the next two weeks while Lin is out. We complain about picking Frank ahead of Winslow, Booker and Turner, imagine how the Pistons fans feel about Johnson. He's been damn near unplayable so far this year.

Johnson looked great in summer league last year and last regular season looked like a legit NBA player, but who was just struggling to find his shot. Strange that he seems to have fallen off a cliff so suddenly.

No reunion with El Jornet either.

I'm told ex-NBA guard Jorge Gutierrez, cut by Brooklyn Nets, has signed with Turkish club Trabzonspor.

El Jornet is one of my all-time favorite nicknames for players on recent Bobcat/Hornet teams, either ones we came up with on this forum or well known nicknames.

Some of the best nicknames of the past, can you match all the nicknames to the player (some players listed under multiple nicknames)?

El Jornet
McMinus
Toodles
Pillow
Princess
Hulk
Crash
Fabio
One-Armed Bandit
Seven Pounds (one of my favorites that never stuck)
Mexicat
Work Harder
Humble Yourself
Motor Keeps Going
Ammo
Spunky Love Chunks (I'm sure I messed that up)
Hammer
Squirrel
Hobe
McJesus
McBob
DayMan
Ups
The Tank
Viking
TMNT
Pussyfoot
Turtle
Oklahoma Turnstiles
Create-A-Player

who am I forgetting?

Detroit was kinda beating him up. Fortunately Brooklyn closed with only backup minutes from Lin. BIG win for them.

I'll be at the game. Funny how Lin runs into guys 60 pounds heavier and gets back up. He turns a little awkwardly on a drive to make a pass, hammy strain.

Well, at least I'll get to see MKG, Marv, Frank, Kemba, so many of the guys I enjoy watching play on this team. The Nets play OK, they at least have bought into Atkinson's system and try hard.

No they weren't. Lin was driving in the paint and taking the usual blows he takes in a game. Nothing out of the ordinary. The injury was on a body twist, usually how they happen. Lin was playing well, Brook out of his mind, and the Nets were shooting off the charts.

Anyway, the Hornets aren't terribly banged up. And I really hope it stays that way. Last season was ridiculous.

JLIn takes a crazy amount of abuse driving into the teeth of the defense. My experience watching the NBA tells me players like that tend to have careers shortened. Maybe a partnership alongside Kemba, versus bolting to a 40 minute per game job elsewhere, presents a wise career longevity move that is attractive to Mr. Lin?

I wrote that last May. He's already hurt. Just sayin'.

Obviously Frank is "The Tank" but a small part of me hopes that Fats was aiming for Sherron Collins there.

I also just realized that we now have our second Rocky. For a second there I had forgotten about Jeff Adrien and thought that it's already the way we call Bellineli.

I do wonder if Maggette knows about his nickname. I mean, it has stuck so much that it even is the only nickname bk-ref has for him. He just has to know, right?

a couple of others I remember are:

Mucho Jannero
