And played poorly for the most part ( 5 turnovers and stagnant offense in the 2nd half). We had 71 points at halftime and scored less than 50 in the 2nd with Whead at pg. Just proves my point. Kenny stubbornly played Whitehead and Skill who should be the backup pg finished the game and helped the Nets pull out the victory.

I think it's more like, it's lucky Atkinson played Whitehead even tho he was bad. He got a lot better for stretches this game when he had to be played.

Remember, it's a 15 men roster. He occupies a spot. It's not just about development for the future.

We all can see that Whitehead was horrible. But it's also obvious that he has a lot of talents. He sometimes shows that he can play great D, he boxed out Baynes, he can do fastbreak, he can pull up, most importantly he hit that three. Whenever it's necessary just tell him to do nothing except for 3&D, and if he can do that well, it'd be huge. Didn't we see his value in the Boston game with his hustle?

He can be valuable this season.

Not sold on him at all. Anyone can make some good plays but if your bad plays outweigh your good ones (which his did - 5 to's, poor shooting) then you are a detriment to a team.

That's pretty obvious. He'll get better for sure. He's a gamer. He's just not used to the league.

Again, gotta think long term, even within the season. Got the W with him playing major minute, that's a big success.

Whitehead's mistakes mainly looked like one of inexperience. He needs more reps and film time to see how he botched some simpe plays whether going before the screen or turning it over on a simple pass where he read the play correctly but the pass got intercepted.

Whitehead's touch pass to Scola shows promise and feel for the game. His boxout of Baynes was nice but as he gets savvier, he'll learn he doesn't have to get a foul and into a wrestling match. Chris Paul will do the same all the time, hit a guy, and then fall over like he got attacked and get the foul call. Those will come in time with Whitehead I hope.

Whitehead actually doesn't attack enough when he has chances and passes at odd times. Still a tentative rookie. All fixable things with some reps. I thought he played well last game, just didn't have enough experience yet.

Yea Joe Harris is really improving his game and showing he's more than just a 3 point shooter, really surprised by him hope he continues. His shot and form is so smooth. He just need to learn how to stay in front of his man a little more but the effort is there.

This coaching staff is good. They hammer home messages to the players and try to really clean up the junk.

Harris was trying to do these spin moves on drives or between the back and legs and he was fumbling it every time and turning it over. Now he's been told to focus more on straight line drives and it's paying off. At worse he misses the layup attempt instead of a steal and layup for the other team. He often catches it at the left elbow and kept driving right or changing direction to go right. Last game, he caught it there and drove left. Solid coaching adjustment. Once he gets adept at the basics, he can add layers to his game. That's solid coaching.

Scola too, great coaching on him. Scola is sacrificing stats to be the bench's glue guy. That is a great role for him and one that is so important to this team. It's just as important as Brook scoring 30, Lin attacking, Booker's hustle, and Kilpatrick sizzling. He really is not chucking the 3 ball and passing or doing the dribble hand off. He kept Baynes at bay for more of the game on the glass and was a fantastic conduit on offense. He even trapped very well on defense (because he had young mobile guards not named GV to trap with FINALLY!). This version of Scola is a big asset. It helped the coaches finally paired him with Booker at the 4 like I asked Kenny to do since pre-season. Hamilton and Scola are too unathletic together for more than 1 or 2 minutes.

I dont think this team would have won the game if GV was playing point. I hate to not give GV a chance but I have no confidence he would have attacked the paint at all or even drove on a pick and roll. Also his 3 pointer is not as steady as Skils. It would have led to a loss.

Vasquez brings a body of point guard work good enough that Marks/Atkinson named him Lin's backup. Career .349 3P% vs .356 for SKil. Greivis hasn't played one minute in pre-season or regular season where he's been 100% so we don't really know what a healthy GV brings to our games.

Let him get the humongous boot off his foot before you declare your no-confidence vote.

I have no vote of confidence because of that boot and the surgery before. But sure let's hope GV gets back soon. He is much needed now.

All 4 of Brook's 3pt makes in this game looked fluid, in rhythm, and he looked comfortable taking them. What a marked difference from the hesitation on the attempts in the games prior.

That is a great sign. Lopez could literally be turning into a deadly player before our eyes if he's going to be used like this. He totally dominated one of the league's best big men with ease the other night, i was very proud to see that from him.

And as i've been saying for god knows how long, when Lopez faces up and attacks off of the dribble he is nearly unstoppable. His first step is deceptively quick for someone of his size. Post ups should only happen on occasion.
