Ben Simmons has looked better so far this season than Jamal Murray.

As long as Embiid stays healthy and gets his minutes up to around 30... There is no chance anyone else is winning it.

He was being sarcastic, Murray has been struggling.

I wanted Boston to take Murray at three, Brown is really making me eat my words tonight vs the Cavs but I'll still believe Murray will end up being one of the better players out of the class.

Dunn had a solid first quarter but struggled after that. 7 assists in first 12 minutes, 2 assists in last 18 minutes. Thibs went with Tyus Jones down the stretch in the 4th quarter.

Not exactly the Iverson crossing over Jordan but he might end up as something after all.

Good to see Looney showing what he is capable of and earning real minutes in the rotation. I feel he deserves to be honorable mention as a rookie, though 2nd year officially. He looks wise beyond years, not flashy, playing within himself, but excellent at his role.

I don't know if Ainge knew what he was doing or was just lucky with Jaylen Brown. haha

Simmons just waited for him to get out of his way looking super annoyed as the cameraman struggled to find his feet while carrying his heavy equipment around him. Simmons wasn't obligated to help the man out, but what bothered me was how he reacted to it. I may be overreacting to a five second span in time, but like I said, it's just bad vibes so far.

there's no doubt that there are major personality red flags with this kid. i have no dog in the hunt and hope for his sake that he pans out, but i thought the tmac incident leading up to the draft was way more telling than people led on. the players-turned-commentators almost always go out of their way to praise and encourage young players at the beginning of their careers - it's safe to assume that he must have acted like a major league douchebag behind closed doors to get tmac to publicly call him out like that. it's almost unprecedented.

Even though I expected more from him at Cal his game was always more suited for the league.

He knew what he was doing. He's super athletic and if you met him it'd be obvious he'll put the work in. Called it predraft that he should've been the 2nd pick.

Is there a single rookie who stood out so far? I don't think there is, though I don't watch every team, so I could be wrong.

Do you mean from this draft class or rookies in General? Because Embiid.

Usually ROY puts considerable weight in raw stats and he's leading rookies in points per game (17.3, next highest is 11.3), rebounds per game (6.3, next highest is 5.2), and blocks per game (2.7, next highest is 0.8 - actually ranks third in the NBA in only 21 mpg). Metrics aren't too bad either, positive contributor with favorable net ratings.

Yep, you guys are right, Embiid is the clear ROY so far. Yeah, I actually watched 2-3 Philly games, but forgot that he is a rookie as well. If he can stay healthy, he is a runaway favorite for the award. Decent efficiency too, 56%TS.

He's only played in 3 games so far, but yes, if he can stay on the court consistently this year, he should win it. However, if he can't play in back to backs or get his minutes up to 30 per game, he leaves the door open for guys like Brown and Dunn, who are getting starter minutes right now due to injuries.

There aren't many rookies right now who are consistently getting 30 minutes a night, which is usually the minutes rate where ROY candidates play at. Maybe this will be one of the rare seasons the ROY doesn't play 30MPG.
