Pacers are a 2 point favorite with an O/U of 213. Battle of bad offense vs. bad defense tonight!

Legit.......do we even have an offensive system beyond "we gotta get stops on defense"????

Cuz when we're not in transition, these guys don't even look like they know what's going on. Passes going out of bounds, onto people's feet, into defenders' hands. Paul George getting triple teamed, but it doesn't look like anyone else is even open. Not nearly enough ball movement.

It looks bad fellas.

The main thing our team needs right now is more time playing together. We added so many new faces playing a different style that the adjustment period is still going on. Even with the returning players there is some unfamiliarity. Ellis and George aren't really able to fully utilize the Myles Turner release valve yet, for example. The result is a team with apparent talent that is unsure of itself, and that shows on defense and passing.

Al Jefferson also sucks.

If you didn't think there would be speed bumps early... you don't follow bball very closely. Like Miller said lots of new pieces and learning. When Parker is making 3s like he did last night the Bucks are really good. That being said.... giving up 125 to the Bucks is really bad. 11 of 15 at home and that should allow for a lot of practice time which is big for this group.

George, in an effort to improve the Pacers’ execution, said he has discussed with McMillan the possibility of having more structure when it comes to the team’s halfcourt offense.

“We can play fast,” he said. “We have a lot of intelligent guys. But I think if he gives us a system, and lets us find our way through it moreso than just doing it on the fly, I think we’ll be a little better off.”

I was a fan of the McMillan signing, but the players on the team shouldn't have to ask their coach to put in an offensive system. Teague is coming from a team with a rather complex offensive system even compared to most of the league. No wonder he's struggling here. Nate was asked about offense after the Lakers game and his only response was that the team needed to get more stops on defense and then get out and run. And.....That can't be the only answer to that question. It just can't be.

I'm not crying foul and saying we should fire Nate and blow up the team or trade PG for draft picks or whatever. I'm glad Nate has shown some willingness to experiment with rotations. But this has gotta be fixed and quickly.

I agree with him we need to get more stops. A lot of them. Anyone can disagree with his system that is fine, but take nothing away from what a coach says in the media. They are always going to use basic talk. I mean when asked he is obviously not going to go in depth about what they are trying to do X and O wise for many reasons.

I really honestly don't tend to be a negative Nancy full of hot takes and overreaction.

I don't have any problem with getting stops on the defensive end. Our defense definitely needed to get a lot more stops in this game than it did, but getting them is not an offensive system. I don't expect to hear the fine details of our plays aired out in the media, either. What I do expect is our team to actually look like it has some plays, and when our fast breaks get stopped or we're forced to play out of the net, this team looks absolutely 100% lost. Not "a few new guys are getting used to the system" lost either. And maybe it's not actually true about what they've done in private, but I can only comment on what I see on the basketball court. They look like a team that hasn't even discussed Xs and Os amongst themselves. Like a team that has no plays to even run. The ball handler looks like a deer in the headlights frantically searching for someone to set a pick.

If that's how it looks to me as a layman, then NBA-level defenders are gonna carve them up all game, every game. And this game was against the Bucks. It needs to get figured out and quick.

Well, you either don't suck at everything or we suck a lot more than you do :P

It doesn't look good, fellas. Our defense has been beyond discouraging. Do you know what's the most telling stat? Out of Milwaukee's 125 points only 8 of them came from midrange shots. Everything else was points in the paint (62), 3 pointers (36) and free throws (19). Protecting the paint and running the opposing team out of the 3-point line is what good defenses do. It's what we've consistently done the past 5-6 years. And we did none of that last night. It's depressing :(
