Also, not to beat a dead horse, but they still have Caris Levert coming back shortly. I loved him and wanted the Celtics to grab him with their second 1st round pick. He's silky smooth with a great all around offensive game and will be elite defensively. I think he's every bit as talented as any player in the draft. He has that huge injury concern obviously. But if I was a Nets fan, I'd be every bit as hyped for Levert as us Celtics fans are about Brown. This Lin injury, while potentially hurting any immediate chances at wins, could be a blessing in disguise because Whitehead will get lots of experience. He's spazzy but a very athletic and quick kid. I think if he slows the game down a bit they might also have something to work with with him as well. It's similar to how Jaylen Brown is getting minutes due to the Crowder injury. The Nets are basically using this whole season to decide what they have to work with moving forward. Just like if Brown stepped up and made Crowder expendable and potentially packaged in a trade, Whitehead's emergence might allow Nets to move someone for a pick.

Brook Lopez on the trade block per the Wiretap.

Just don't see any trades where the Nets can come out on top, or even get more than 70-80% of his value. He is underrated but the same time not that valuable around the league.

Trading Lopez would be a smart move in the long run.

Nab a couple young players and a few picks and hopefully start to build something that looks like a future.

Looks like another L for the Nets, lucky for us.

That was way too close.

Am I reading this right that Brooklyn doesn't play their first back to back game until December 22/23? (Aussie dates)
And we have already played two? They must have a brutual second half of the year.

I'm nto expecting big return... but id move him without it. id take 75 cents on the dollar if it got me a 2 way roleplay big who fit this team/style better, gave us a center who can defend, and some mid round pick. im thinking similar to the return the celtics got for rondo.

Crowder, protected 1st, future second is basically what boston got for rondo right?

Give me the center version of rondo and the same 2 type picks and i make that move. the crowder trade looked ok btu nto great at the time, but looks fantastic now. and i think the nets should follow that blueprint. give up the talent/paper value for a 2 way guy and a fit.

something like john henson or clint capella and a couple picks would be worth it for me.

Glad to have you contributing here Prok. A lot of your forum thinks we're a bunch of **** but it's nothing personal (at least for me), just how stuff worked out.

But it's nice to have a very intelligent, proactive Nets poster here to discuss these issues.

right now it's tied for 6th. The nets are bad, but not terrible. Didn't realize how many "bad" teams are out there right now. Mavs and pelicans, what are you doing?

Brooklyn still look bittom 5 bad to me.
i think mavs, pelicans and even Kings are 5-8 wins better at seasons end, and thats with lopez. 50% of the season without lopez and they're repeating last year.
jeremy lin is just a terrible player to build a ball moving philosophy with fresh young players. Not many worse starting pgs in the nba.
One day Marcus Smart will be defensive player of the year, mark my words.

Pelican's front office is such a disgrace. AD will turn into the modern day KG. He needs to gtfo before that team ruins his bright career.

Hmm..Cousins and Love get so much **** for not taking their teams to the post season. Davis is considered on a higher level than both, yet it is always on everyone bar him. Yeah, I know he took them one year, but this year so far, it's been on the GM, his team mates, the Coach..whatever. Not really fair on those other two.

For the record, I got a lot of love for Davis, and the Pelicans will get better, don't get it twisted

Love and KG got a ton of **** but fwiw I don't see many people saying that about Cousins. I think most people realize the Kings are a disgrace of an organization and it would take a miracle for them to make the post season.

Full disclosure: I hate Cousins and I'm not trying to praise him in anyway. I think we should and will stay far away from him.

How are the Nets better this year than last year? We are only in week 2.

They got out of the gate 0-7, had a huge ongoing roster shakeup, changed coaches and had no GM for a good part of the season. They were a rudderless ship. They now appear to have a good coach and the new GM is highly regarded. They don't have great talent, but they have already shown heart and hustle and I'd be surprised if they don't win more games than last year.

Have you watched the Net's games?...By the way, you are correct in your assessment...This Nets team is much better than last year team who had a lot of issues concerning coaches, system and they had no direction,,,They are now more stable with better direction.

Booker and Lin have both played well so far and looked to be upgrade to last year players at their position...Lin is hurt, but should be back in 2 weeks....These 2 players alone, if they stay healthy, should improve Nets by a lot of games.

The Nets are certainly better this year, but they also had a fully healthy Brooke Lopez last year. Take him out of the equation and they're even worse this year than they were last year despite the Lin and Booker additions.

I'm not terribly worried about the Nets being leaps and bounds better than last year. I think the issue is that now they are good enough that when good teams play down to them, they've got a chance. I think they would always have a chance against the other bottom feeders and it's a bit of a crapshoot as to whether the Sixers or Nets or Suns are going to win, but I think the Nets have a better chance (when healthy) of beating teams like us and the Bulls and Raptors than those other bottom feeding teams.

If all goes well for them I think our pick could end up in the 8-10 range. That would mean no injuries more severe than what Lin just went down with (1-2 weeks), no Lopez trade and no terribly cold stretches where Lin/Lopez/Bogs/Booker stink it up.

If all goes poorly, they're still in contention for the most ping pong balls. Lin or Lopez go down and I think that could seal their fate as a bottom 3 team.

If they fall somewhere in the middle I think we're looking at 3rd to 6th most ping pong balls. Same as last year where they are in the hunt for a top 3 finish, but some teams manage to tank below them to snag 4/5 potentially.

We should all just be happy it's supposed to be a deep draft in the top 10. We should be sitting pretty regardless.
