I did have them in, but with the way Marks is handling business, he is not looking to overpay any players. Those 3 players are detrimental towards their team that they would match anything we offer them.

Re: 2017-2018 Off-Season Prediction Thread
For me I think we might go after Serge Ibaka. He is still young I think he will only be 27. He is a good defensive player, he is not a black hole, he is a good shot blocker, he can shoot the 3, he is athletic, and he is a high character player. He just fits like a glove with this team.

Re: 2017-2018 Off-Season Prediction Thread
Players I'm interested in:
Patty Mills --> Solid backup point, good shooter, could occassionally play next to Lin in lineups for quickness and spacing.
Gordon Hayward --> Obvious one, but unfortunately not realistic because better teams will happily offer him a max deal
Thabo Sefolosha --> Good defender, solid not great shot, veteran presence, maybe a bigger short-term deal with some millions above his market value before he decides to chase a ring later in his career
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope --> Pistons and KCP couldn't agree on an extension before the deadline. I guess they will match anything regardless, but maybe worth a try as the Pistons already have a high payroll. One of the better 3&D twos.
Shabazz Muhammad --> I'm not super high on him, but he has some talent and is stuck in a bad situation as the Wolves are determined to develop their better prospects. The Wolves could afford to match an offer and keep him for another year, but they will need money one year later because of the hefty extensions of Wiggins and LaVine and might consider letting him walk instead.
Jonathon Simmons --> Worth a try, but the Spurs will have cap space and probably won't let a good prospect walk while they are in need of young players.
Mike Scott --> Potential stretch four, but only on a cheap deal in order to replace Scola or if the Nets decide to cut Bennett
Jonas Jerebko --> Another stretch four, stuck in a deep Celtics squad and might chase a bigger role and more money elsewhere.
Terrence Jones --> I already liked him as an addition this summer and he's looking good in New Orleans so far
Joffrey Lauvergne --> Skilled big man, OKC is already heavily invested in Kanter and Adams and likely won't match anything.
Andre Roberson --> Again, OKC has already handed out some big extensions and couldn't get one done with Roberson. As OKC is normally reluctant to pay the tax, they could decide to let him walk. Shaky three, but a force on defense, great length and athleticism.
Paul Millsap --> Likely not interested in joining us, but at least make the call.
Danilo Gallinari --> Injury prone, but a proven scorer from anywhere on the floor.
Kelly Olynyk --> Should be a good fit in a motion offense. Give him an offer sheet while the Celtics are still chasing bigger free agents.
Nerlens Noel --> Will likely get traded throughout the season and his new team will be prepared to match anything. Nevertheless worth a try. Elite defensive potential.
Worth a note:
Restricted free agency will be much easier to deal with in the upcoming CBA which will already be in effect next summer. Players won't have to wait until after the Moratorium in order to sign an offer sheet and the period to match an offer sheet will likely be shortened to two days. Could be a big benefit for the Nets who both have a lot of cap space and a desire to sign young players. This could even allow the Nets to chase multiple RFAs because there will still be a lot of time left as soon as some offer sheets have been matched.

They matched which is right now we can see are not overpay. KCP for instance we would offer him probably around 12-16 mill a year. Detroit has Hillard and Gibinilje both are young prospect not ready to start. They are trying to win so no way they let him go unless they acquire someone big on FA. Mirotic as well, they have Gibson and Portis. If they want to let someone go, it would be portis. Mirotic, is so important for them spreading the floor with Rondo and Wade starting in their team. Otto Porter? Washington lacks so much assets that they are definitely will be holding onto Porter unless they get something back for him.

We aren't going after T-Jones as the guy beats up homeless people... He won't be in the conversation

Hayward already signed an extension
Shabazz is already in talks of an extension plus he does not spread the floor
I like Olynyk as well.. I want to see if Boston lets him go.
Simmons is gonna be a good piece for SA. I had him on the list but I decided to take him away because when I looked at their roster, I thought he will be a keeper for their team just because of their core players aging.

2017-2018 Off-Season Prediction Thread
I don't see anyway for us to steal KCP from Detroit. I'm not fond of the cap situation but he's literally their only perimeter wing who's a staring level player. We'd have to throw the kitchen sink at them to even have them thinking twice on matching. I can't see it happening but he would be an excellent fit next to Rondae but Gallinari is at the top of the list for me.

Re: 2017-2018 Off-Season Prediction Thread
Would like to see Marks use his SA connection and get Patty Mills.
No to Gallo, too injury prone and will fall off IMO.
Re-sign Bogs for about $10m a year
Would love either Millsap or Ibaka
Lin / Mills / Whitehead
LeVert / Kilpatrick / Harris
RHJ / Bogdanovic
Millsap / Booker / CMC
Lopez / Hamilton
+
BOS #1 + #2
Use Cash and the 2nd to move up as high in the second as possible.

You're not wrong but I think you're over thinking it. I dont see Washington letting Porter walk either, but you'll never know until you put that fat contract in their face and force their hand. Just because its unlikely you can poach someone doesn't mean its not worth trying. We knew it would be hard to get Crabbe but we still tried.

I'll need to see what our record is near season's end to make a prediction. If we can hover near or even manage to get above .500 i'd say our options open up significantly. if not, i don't see us getting any of the names people are tossing out there

We don't know what happened there and it was 3 years ago. Everyone makes mistakes, doesn't necessarily mean that he's a locker room cancer. All I know is he's a good baller but if Marks thinks he's a bad guy after making his due dilligence, then so be it. But he's at least worth a look if he continues to have a good season.
Andre Roberson is a nice piece but he can't shoot. We already have RHJ and the team is trying to spread the floor.
We not only need shooters but also good wing defenders. Beggars can't be choosers, we won't get polished two-way players. So it's up to the coaching staff to develop his offensive skills.
I don't see anyone letting go of Noel off of FA.
Me neither, but let's force their hand.
Mike Scott also got into trouble I don't see us going after him.
Kenny is familiar with him and he didn't hurt the Hawks' team chemistry. Maybe he believes in his skills, I just wanted to put him on the radar.
Hayward already signed an extension
Nope, upcoming UFA. But I don't know why he's not included in spotrac's list. The Jazz have to offer him a 5-year max in order to keep him which they are not able to do before the start of free agency due to the CBA. So he doesn't have any incentive to sign an extension.
Shabazz is already in talks of an extension plus he does not spread the floor
Extension deadline has passed, they can't sign him to an extension anymore.
I like Olynyk as well.. I want to see if Boston lets him go.

Simmons is gonna be a good piece for SA. I had him on the list but I decided to take him away because when I looked at their roster, I thought he will be a keeper for their team just because of their core players aging.
Yeah, I have the same feeling. And i'm still unsure if Marks will even try to poach players from the Spurs.

As far as I know, this one has a reverse protection meaning it won't convey next year unless the Pacers are in the lottery.

Can anyone explain to me our situation with our 2017 second round pick. It's conditional if they swapped out our first round but what does it really mean?

The Nets don't have their own second thanks to that stupid overpay for Joe Johnson

If the Celtics exercise their swap right, they have to convey their second round pick to the Nets in addition to their own first but only if the Celtics are not a lottery team themselves. If the Celtics are a lottery team and execute their swap right, they would then keep the second, so only send us their (worse) first.
So your summary was spot on, the Nets will have the Celtics' picks, meaning a late first and a late second.

id be all in on millsap and ibaka. that would be a pretty sick front court duo for kenny to work with. 2 way players who can both shoot and defend multiple positions. if we could get even 1 of the 2 it would be big for us

Would love to have Millsap and Hayward although I'm aware it's a long shot for those players to even consider us. I think both would be perfect fits for Kenny Atkinson's system.
