Honestly a ton of the defensive woes are flat out on the coaching staff. The interior numbers might look decent but it is coming at the expense of giving up wide open 3's. Getting crushed from outside like that is too much to fight back from every night and the players will eventually wear down. Still waiting for the adjustment from Joerger.

I think this game gives us an idea of what a Kings team that traded Rudy Gay away would look like. Specifically if they trade Gay for a player who's not a legit scoring option. Collison will help but Rudy shoulders a larger role.

A lot of mediocrity on this roster right now. I don't see this team consistently competing unless they find more talent somehow. Rookies/WCS/McLemore have potential but it's not there at the moment.

I've been on the forefront of not trading Gay for garbage as an addition by subtraction solution but this goes beyond the talent right now. There are some excuses at the moment such as having a nightmare schedule to start the year, but it also has a lot to do with a lack of cohesion on both ends and perhaps some inappropriate strategy in defending the 3 ball. This isn't nearly as bad as it would seem, or it shouldn't be, but unless certain things aren't adjusted to some extent defensively it could very well get that bad.

In a way the fact that you can point to specific examples of failed basketball strategy as a reason for the issues the team currently has could be seen as a positive.

The team needs practice. Joerger has to find a legit rotation and offensive and defensive strategy. Remember, they aren't taking the short term approach. I just hope he understands that losing the confidence in his top 3 players could come sooner than he realizes, he isn't up against he wall right now but he's heading that way. He will only have so much rope with the players before they bail out again.

I didn't say everything, I was talking specifically about the 3 point defense.

Yeah,I forgot, it's all Cousins and his tantrums . Joerger was knocked for his teams 3 points strategy before coming Sacramento and it looks like there might be some merit to it.

I believe in his coaching ability from what I've heard about the guy so I do think he'll do what's necessary to improve upon what's there and/or change a few things strategically based on the talent he has available to him. Adjusting is what good coaches do. I do think Joerger is one of them.

Of course they disappeared. When you play so far off the 3 to help in the paint that the opposing team is 2 good passes from an open 3 it's amazing what happens to a players will to fight.

I'd say it were on the players not following the strategy if it weren't for the fact that every single player he put it did the same exact thing. A little more energy and getting back to shooters will help, but I've always been a supporter of not having players helping inside that can't really effect anything at the rim anyway by giving up easy 3 point looks.
