he looks ridiculous however he's going to have to prove he can last a entire season and more importantly that he can translate his play into wins. Ain't going to lie, not looking forward to playing philly this year.

Honestly, it's either him or Towns' spot to take over the center position for years to come. They're both looking like Steph Curry of centers while also having post moves for days. It's going to suck for Drummond trying to guard these guys on the perimeter.

KAT :droop: is going to be more like tim duncan in that he's more a 4 and 5 rather than traditionally just a center that can play pf or vice versa. He's literally both. I think KAT will ultimately be the better player but Dre will be the better center. if that makes any sense

Consistency in team structure and players is super important. Look at Boston tonight. Getting mauled by Denver. They lost important pieces, we did not.

People downplay keeping the same players and creating a team culture but I say consistency is king.

When the Pistons get Jackson back, look out.

Celtics getting bombed by the Nuggets right now. Interesting stat for the Celtics going into this game:

Off Rtg: 114.1 (2nd of 30) Def Rtg: 112.9 (30th of 30)

VERY different from last year.

to be fair, they are added AH who is a core piece and provides them a option the didn't have before on both ends, they also don't have Crowder and no more turner, who provided them quite a bit of flexibility and a major part of their O and defense. I'd be suprised if there was no adjustment period.

I think with teams like this we give them 25 games before we can start to see how the team is forming much like i think Chicago will come back down to earth and Toronto as well once DD stops dropping loads on everyone.

So Liquorish had great write up about our team on the GB and of course it was met by ignorant haterz spewing the same old ignorant rhetoric. If you have time, stop by and shut some of those idiots up.

I mean look at Philly's brilliant idea of a rebuild, it took them this long but their franchise has been the embarrassment of the league. I think if we make the Playoffs and make it out of the first round, SVG legitimately should get EOTY. Though if they did that, it would technically acknowledge that Detroit made a killing on those trades.

viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1489326#start_here

Liqourish wrote:I know each individual move has been discussed and it's still new into the rebuild process (normally takes 3 years to build a team), but what SVG has done in Detroit has been remarkable.

2013-2014 Detroit Pistons team SVG took over:

B. Jennings/R. Stuckey/W. Bynum/P. Siva/C. Billups
K. Caldwell-Pope/
J. Smith/K. Singler/C. Villanueva
G. Monroe/J. Jerebko/T. Mitchell
A. Drummond/G. Monroe/J. Harrellson

Got rid of the bench sans Singler/Jerebko and replaces the others with guys like D.J. Augustin, Jodie Meeks, Anthony Tolliver, Caron Butler, and refused to sign Greg Monroe long term.

2014-2015 Detroit Pistons team: (1st year rebuild)

B. Jennings/D. Augustin
K. Caldwell-Pope/J. Meeks (DL)
J. Smith/C. Butler/T. Prince
G. Monroe/A. Tolliver
A. Drummond/J. Anthony

SVG did the unthinkable and waived Josh Smith, actually getting the owner Tom Gores to agree to pay Josh Smith to just leave the team. Left us short-handed, but the young guys responded with winning basketball beyond that point. Brandon Jennings went down with injury. SVG then send Augustin, Singler and a 2nd to OKC for Reggie Jackson.

let's re-visit that trade!!

Detroit received:
Reggie Jackson

Utah received:
Kendrick Perkins
OKC 1st
Detroit 2nd

OKC received:
Enes Kanter
D.J. Augustin
Kyle Singler
Detroit 2nd

Most people thought OKC won that trade by far. Some Thunder fans even stated that Augustin was a better player than Reggie Jackson and would thrive for years next to Kevin Durant, while Detroit would not get to the playoffs with Reggie Jackson (if he would stay in Detroit). It's been almost two years, but considering Kanter and Singler are playing less than 18 mpg each for OKC, and Reggie was a starting PG on a playoff team, re-signed for $80 million and almost made the All-Star team, I think Detroit won that trade.

In the offseason, SVG traded Butler to Milwaukee for Ersan. Traded a future 2nd rd pick to Phoenix for Marcus Morris, Reggie Bullock and Danny Grangers contract. Drafted Stanley Johnson. Signed backup C Aron Baynes.

2015-2016 Detroit Pistons: (2nd year of rebuild)

R. Jackson/B. Jennings/S. Blake
K. Caldwell-Pope/J. Meeks (DL)/D. Hilliard
M. Morris/S. Johnson
E. Ilyasova/A. Tolliver
A. Drummond/A. Baynes

At the trade deadline, Detroit moves the expiring contracts of Jennings and Ersan to Orlando for the remaining 4 year descending contract of Tobias Harris. No picks were involved. Later, Detroit would send Meeks to Orlando for a future 2nd rd pick. In the following offseason, SVG re-signed Andre Drummond to a 5 yr contract, signs back PG ISh Smith to a 3 y deal, backup PF Jon Leuer to a 4yr deal, picks up solid 3rd string vets in C Boban Marjanovic and PG Beno Udrih (both former Spurs) to the bench. Drafted a young stretch f in Henry Ellenson and G Michael Gbinije. Both sent ot the d-league.

2016-2017 Detroit Pistons (3rd year into rebuild)

R. Jackson/I. Smith*/B. Udrih*
K. Caldwell-Pope/R. Bullock/M. Gbinije*
T. Harris/S. Johnson/D. Hilliard
M. Morris/J. Leuer*/H. Ellenson*
A. Drummond/A. Baynes/B. Marjanovic*

*New players added this season

So far this season, the Pistons are 4-2 (4-0 at home where they are blowing opponents out and holding everyone under 90 ppg, all but 1 team under 85 ppg), are the deepest they've ever been, and havn't even played with their starting PG yet this season. Most people expected them to fight for HCA in the playoffs this season. And it looks like they could be right at that 4th seed.

Without trading for superstars, this is probably the quickest and most efficient rebuild I have witnessed. Why isn't SVG getting more consideration for EOTY?

Philly is going to be a quality team in 2 years - proving Hinkie was partly right in tanking.

He should've put more money into having legit pros to teach the kids though.

Joel, Saric, Simmons & 2 Lotto picks at guard then surround them with role players...

As for Boston: no Horford impacts them big time against teams like Denver but I think theyll be fine

Avery Bradley is balling out of his mind so far

He barely beat the Pelicans (1 point,) and he lost to the Lakers.

I didn't watch either game, so I'm not going to act like I know what I'm taking about, but doesn't that at least raise some question marks?

I'm pumped to see Booker vs. KCP.

Booker scored these points in 41 and 45 minutes. Opportunity plays some role here. Pistons didn't know Morris was going to be so good, or Harris would be available when they drafted SJ. Booker is a fine young prospect and a gifted shooter. My observation isn't intended to diminish this in the least.

Booker has a feel for the game that KCP and Dre are just now starting to show in their 4th and 5th season. He can score in a huge variety of ways and is still only 19-20 years. Think a more offensively versatile Thompson. and again, he's just getting started.

If booker was on the pistons, he'd probably be in contention for scoring title. He's that much of a elite scorer and in this offense would thrive.

Minus the elite defense of course.

Booker is a guy you can build your offense around. He's averaging 23ppg as a 20 year old and he should eclipse 25ppg in the future. While not a great defender he does put in effort and that part of this game will develop over the season but as far as scoring he's elite.

SJ on the Team

We’ve embraced that playoff series loss, and it has sparked a fire in all of us. To put it simply, getting swept was totally unacceptable. It’s funny, you always hear guys say that making it to the playoffs — or getting out the first round — is a team objective.

Like that’s it? That’s all you want to do? Just getting a taste of the playoffs is satisfying? I can’t speak for anybody else, but I can say this on behalf of my team: We want more.

Scratch that. We want it all.

Everyone should have that mentality. We should also not get games like the Nets game if we do tho. I think that's probably the only bad outing effort wise this year. I missed that game tho

a combination of Dre's down spiraling, Nets making ridiculous amount of shots, and inability to make shots int he final 2 minutes. Jeremy lin is a hell of a PG and typicaly has good games against us. Its one of those games where even when our guys hustled , they seemed to lose the 50/50 balls.

We had a sh* game and still could have won it in the end. I would say the clippers game is probably the worst outing, simply because we weren't ready

Return to Detroit Pistons
