I think I am coming around on Okafor. I think he is a rare type of case because he was already so skilled on offense but very raw on defense. I can see him turning himself into a good enough defender to be a guy you can't afford to keep off the floor.

I've had some beers though, might not feel the same tomorrow to be honest.

Okafor has definitely been much improved defensively. No denying that. Small sample size though, hopefully it continues.

That one handed rebound technique needs to be coached out of him ASAP. He actually tries to back hand rebounds with one hand a lot which is a really bad habit. It just doesn't work in the NBA.

Yeah.. I think it's his lazy attempt at compensating for the fact that he hardly jumps for the ball.

I don't think that it is less effort than the right way to do it. It is just a bad habit that he used to get away with, but can't in the NBA.

Sometimes one handed tip rebounds can work. That was the classic Rodman rebound, when he would tip it to himself.

The problem is that, when Okafor tries to back hand it, it is like a receiver in football making a one handed catch in terms of difficulty. When he tips it that way he isn't in position to tip it to himself. He basically gets no advantage by doing it that way.

I DO see some improvement on the boxing out though, and that is a good sign.

The also hate it. But the more I think about it, that could be Jah's signature/strength. And that goes to all facets of his game. He likes doing things with his right and his off hand to create space for him to maneuver and compensate for his lack of athleticism. He just needs to improve it further (which is encouraging since he was effective in outrebounding tristan with this style at times), and have an alternative to rebounding with this style.

Wouldn't say that. We're all just looking at different angles, timeframe and standards.

What we can all agree is that Jah needs a lot of work to be special. What we can't all agree with is the rate and probability of his improvement.

Was a cheap shot. Apologies.

Jah's defense and rebounding looked improved in the Cavalier game. Keep it up big man.

He had -132DRtg in this game against the Jazz. I'd say he's the biggest reason why Jazz was able to get a big lead against us looking at the disparity between our most used line-up (starting unit with -4 NetRtg) vs 2nd and 3rd most used line-up that includes Jah with atleast -60 to -70 NetRtg.

There was a point where he came in (either the first or second time) where the Jazz immediately scored at the rim on 4 straight possessions with very high percentage looks each time. There's no way you can make that up on the other end.

I'll check later. But those points at the rim he gave up were really horrible as if he was trying to stop jazz players from scoring with his telekinetic powers.

Yeah, it was by far his worst game this season and I think that everybody could tell that, numbers back it up.

On top of that, Jahlil might be the worst screener I've ever seen.

Yep if you're gonna look at those two dunks in garbage time you're really doing yourself a disservice. I would say he's the reason why they lost last night. Absolutely uninspired on both sides of the ball until they found themselves down 20 when nobody on either team was trying anymore, so what the hell let me go make a couple of dunks. Embarrassing effort by him last night in meaningful minutes. Didn't make contact with any screens that he set or make an effort for any rebounds. He's a spectator out there more times than not, especially on this team with the main attraction Embiid doing what he does.

on top of that, there were at least two situations where he could have hat an easy bucket at the rim if he knew how to roll hard, but he just kind of floated around and let his defender catch up. you could see chacho getting angry at him.
