Re: Frank pick...

As currently stands

Booker = yes, averaging 23ppg at 20. He's the real deal. He will get better defensively as he gets older, stronger and more experienced.
Turner = probably, despite defensive shortcomings, he's a better prospect long-term, he has a lot of time to get better feel of defense, 3 years younger.
Winslow = toss up, it would be nice to have another bull dog defender on the wing, but it would muck up spacing, couldn't play much next to MKG, although still young enough to figure it out. He'll certainly improve his shooting over time.
Lyles = too early to tell, but he's at least an intriguing prospect

This is not to say I'm giving up on Frank. Far from it. I think Frank has a higher floor than most of these guys, just a lower ceiling. Judging from his college performance, it might be year 3/4 before Frank really starts to make his jump to what we can expect going forward. Frank was solid so far this year up until last night. 0-6 from 3 wrecked his 3pt %, but small sample size. I still stand by my comments that Frank's best value lies at the 5, but it might take some time before he is ready for that role. But even in that role, we're probably talking about a really solid rotation big, not a top level starter. Solid rotation big with the 9th pick isn't anything to complain about, that is, unless all 4 of the guys drafted immediately after Frank prove to be better, especially considering how that draft played out.

Id still much rather have Winslow or Booker. They are both getting overrated by some, but they are still three years younger. Its hard for me to imagine them at 23 not being clearly much better than Frank currently is.

Idk how you can watch booker and say he is overrated. Decent defensive 2 with playmaking ability only 20 years old averaging 23/3/3

If we would have traded the pick on draft night we essentially would be able to have Lyles and Booker/Turner.

how do you figure?

Wasn't the offer like the 10th pick and 14th pick along with 2 future firsts?

Not quite... Celtics never had the 10th pick, that was Miami. Celtics were offering something like 16th and 29th picks + future picks. 16 and 29 turned out to be Rozier and Hunter. The future picks part is the grey area and depending on who you ask, was either great or not that impressive.

His actual current impact is overrated, not his potential as a prospect. Hes currently a terrible defender and still learning the ins and outs of NBA basketball. Hes already a good scorer, but his overall impact is still pretty meh at the moment, which is perfectly fine and not even an insult because hes still only 20.

I'm with Braggins. He's currently like Kyrie was when he was drafted, killer scorer with basically no other NBA level game. Like Braggins said, he's super young so not a problem at all.

His defense is on par with slow-ish PG's. Think SG version of Al Jefferson minus the rebounding.

Difficult to even provide a comp. Maybe Ben Gordon who had similar length but a stronger, more compact frame and lower COG.

His all-in-one metrics were a disaster last season and it's not hard to see why. Defensive physical tools aren't there - length, frame, hips - and neither is the awareness. Glaring in space (basic transition matchups, back door sieve) and a non-compete on the glass.

Even with his scoring outburst he was still negative VORP. And predictably, higher usage is leading to a commensurate drop in defense.

On a postive note if you like smart guys + tools try Winslow, K. Anderson, or RHJ. One of them is happening right now.
