Any recommendations for internet service? I have a package through Time Warner, but when I talked to them about dropping down to internet only, they told me it's still going to cost close to $100/month and AT&T only has their low-speed options available in my neighborhood. Are there other options in Milwaukee or does Time Warner just have me by the balls?

Question for you guys that still have Time Warner TV service.

Is it any good?

Have they improved the DVR's and remote controls (they really used to suck)

Time Warner has now become Spectrum (at least here in San Diego and I assume for you in Milwaukee as well). Unlike Time Warner, I am told Spectrum unfortunately does not offer NBA League Pass. Does anybody know if a Smart TV has an app for NBA league Pass?

So yesterday I switched from TW internet to U-verse, saving $20 per month, but the interesting part of it was the conversation I had with my tech. I told my tech I would luv to be able to cut the chord, he told me that by the end of the year (it's not far away) DIRECTV will have an offering similar to Amazon tv, Apple etc, and are looking at 3 packages, a basic package, sports package, and an al la carte package, although there seems to be some issues with the latter.

My DVR used to be one of the most frustrating things ever. When I moved I ended up getting a more expensive one with a 1TB hard drive and apparently a better everything else too. It's night and day difference. I'm trying to get rid of cable all together but while I have it I'm definitely paying the extra for the better box. I think it's ridiculous that you have to pay extra just to not get a miserable TV Guide experience but it just adds to the list of reasons to cut the TWC cord.

OK so not really cutting the cord here, just maximizing the benefits. We have 2 HD boxes from DirecTV. One is sent to the living room, one to the bedroom. I want to split the Bedroom box so I can also get HD signal in our upstairs room (there is a 35ft HDMI cable from the basement, where the boxes are, to the room upstairs) can I just use a splitter of some sort without sacrificing definition? Also, can I split it once more to run to a TV in our kitchen? What's the best product for the money to buy? The Internet is leading me all over the place here on something that I thought would be very easy

AT&T wants to sell you a hundred streaming channels for $35.

If it includes RSN's and ESPN, I might give this a shot.

While that sounds great and I could easily afford that. I'm almost worried about getting some type of cable again. Outside of sports and 3 or 4 TV shows it's basically pointless. You can find everything else online and on demand.

New Channels, Additional Lineup Change Coming to PlayStation Vue

Dwayne Benefield's Avatar Posted by Dwayne Benefield on Nov 08, 2016 // Vice President, head of PlayStation Vue

We have some new updates about PlayStation Vue to share with you today. First, we’re happy to announce the addition of new channels to PlayStation Vue, including BBC America and NBA TV launching tomorrow, as well as VICE and more local broadcast stations from CBS and Fox coming soon.

Additionally, starting at 12:01am Eastern Time on November 11, all Viacom-owned networks will no longer be available on PlayStation Vue. This includes channels such as Comedy Central, Spike, and MTV. At PlayStation, we always strive to provide the best value and service for our fans. As part of our ongoing evaluation of the PlayStation Vue offering, we have determined that removing the bundle of channels from Viacom is the best way for us to continue to offer the most compelling value to our fans.

Lol nice try to hide that update in there. :D

Doesn't ChannelMaster have a DVR that works with Sling? My biggest reason for not cutting the cord is I like to record things to watch later. Even some sports, if it's not Packers or Bucks, I may record and start watching an hour or so in so I can just skip the commercials and catch up sometime in the fourth quarter. I have 3 TV's hooked up with Uverse and a lot of times my GF will be watching something off the DVR in a room while I"m watching a game in another room. Give me that functionality, and access to the channels I want, and I'll be happy to cut.

This is from a few months ago

One of the few major drawbacks of Sling TV is that it doesn't license the big broadcast channels, but there's an easy fix for that now. Channel Master announced at CES that its DVR+ products -- which are built to catch your local broadcast channels via antenna -- are adding Sling TV to the mix. That puts an impressive slate of channels on one box, right next to the likes of Netflix, YouTube and a few others. The two DVR+ setups don't have any service fee or subscription by themselves, and are available for $249 (16GB storage if you'd like to BYO hard drive) or $399 (1TB HDD built-in). Owners should see Sling TV appear in an update on the 6th and then they'll be ready to go.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I didn't know where else to put this, but it's something I've been thinking about for a while. Now that the Bucks are getting a new stadium to play in, would it be feasible to also get an expansion NHL hockey team or a WNBA team in Milwaukee. I think it would offer another night of something to do in Milwaukee, and wouldn't affect Bucks sales or attendance at all, but I could be wrong. Also, I don't know how it would work with the Admirals possibly being a tenant in the new complex. I also think it would be nice for us in northern Wisconsin to have another option for viewing when the Bucks aren't playing since it is harder for us to get down to games as often. Another thing I have wondering about is if the Bucks have a license plate available. :)

Yes, they just introduced license plates a month or so ago.

There is support for NHL but I don't think it happens & not sure the market could support 2 winter franchises.

I doubt the WNBA would survive here.

Thank you for your response. Yah, a lot of people argue that Milwaukee is not a big enough market to support 2 winter franchises, and that the NHL would be unlikely to expand here for that reason. I think now is the time to push for it though and just see if it is feasible by surveying the state in some way. They could call the team the Milwaukee Beasts, named after Milwaukee's Best Light, which we call Milwaukee Beast up in the Northwoods lol.

This is what I was referring to in my above post, supposed to have a few different packages.

Has anyone tried DirecTV Now? It was launched last week and if you live in mke then you should be able to watch the bucks. Right now if your sign up for three months you get apple TV for free m. It's like $35 a month includes several channels in including the fox sports, ESPN, NBA TV. I want to get it but wondering what the quality is like and whether it will affect internet for rest of the home. Anyone have experiences with these OTT services?

MickeyDavis wrote:As we all know, the BC was built for hockey and the Pettits plan was to bring an NHL team here. And they had the opportunity to buy and relocate a team here and also to bring an expansion team here. But every time they crunched the numbers it just didn't make financial sense.

Of course that was 25 years ago and things change. But I still don't know if it would be feasible. Personally I'd love an NHL team here. Would that affect how many Bucks game I go to? Yeah it probably would.

The Blackhawks ownership has also changed, they had insisted that any team in Milwaukee pay nearly double the relocation or expansion fee.
Not sure if that's still the case.

DirecTV Now is another failed attempt at streaming.

Their recommendation is to get PS Vue if you're going the streaming route.

I signed up first day and already have Apple TV. I'll flip that so basically it's a 3 month free trial of the hundred channel package. Your question on quality is dependent on your speed, etc. But I have AT&T uverse and get 25mbps. We don't have cable so everything is streaming. Kids use an ipad, wife uses her mac for work which requires downloading and I don't notice a drop. I like the ability to just turn it on and browse channels like I used to before we cut the cord. There is also more to choose from. But at the same time I didn't care about 75% of the stuff on cable when I had it and this feels the same already.

The rest of the bad: no DVR (pause is not available) and not all network episodes are available to stream on demand. For those two reasons alone I'll probably pass on it and wait to see what Hulu comes out with next year. I already have Hulu, Netflix, and HBO. Those pretty much cover my entertainment needs. The real problem with streaming is that it's just not as convenient yet as it should be. I see DirecTV Now as a step in the right direction but not the solution.
