Tariq Nasheed explains why strategically it makes little sense for black people to even participate in this election. Politicians have adopted a benign neglect policy when it comes to serving black communities. Essentially, this means that they never specifically mention black people/populations, and instead deliberately use vague terms to avoid making any political commitments to serve these communities.

All in all, it's personally disgusting to see Hilary Clinton's effort to pander to black communities. The presidency of Obama should've left a sour taste for black voters since he has completely failed their communities. Civilians are getting shot and killed by cops with impunity, locked up at historic rates, Obama is from Chicago and crime has never been worse, and all he has to show for it is town hall meetings where he goes to talk about his feelings, before going back and continuing to do absolutely nothing in terms of policy. For black people, his presidency has been worthless and has only given reason for people to claim "we live in a post-racial world" and ignore the plight of impoverished communities.

On the flip side, Bill Clinton actually created many of the disproportionately enforced policies that were discussed earlier in this thread. The wikileaks have showed Hilary's corruption and pandering extending above and beyond. She has been in cahoots ($$$) with everything all the way to YG's song **** Donald Trump.

The pandering on behalf of the Democratic Party is disgusting to a lot of black people. If you think doing the "nae-nae" on Ellen, or talking about carrying hot sauce, or a photo op with JayZ and Beyoncé means anything to black people who actually pay attention to these things, you're kidding yourself.

Both these candidates suck. I really don't give 2shits who wins. All I know is that Hilary losing is a bigger L than the Warriors being up 3-1. All the damn political experience in the world and you lost. It's really a testament to how much she sucks. Her candidacy is just window dressing, another superficial achievement of having a female president, without any substantive innovation or progress.

I don't like either but Hillary and Bill have always screwed over the black community with mass incarceration.

well, my two cents:

1) The DNC brought this on themselves. When they ran a shady primary, they split their own vote. Debbie Wasserman Schultz scoffed at the Sanders voters. Look at the Democrats now. Destroyed. Clinton was never a viable candidate, she even had the FBI hit her with an October surprise that pretty much sealed it.

2) any person of color, any non white person in this country with a clean background, needs to apply for gun ownership immediately. be prepared to protect yourselves. the element that voted Trump in has it out for all non white people and the message has been sent, even though many of us have been born here, these people don't want us here. As we have seen on social media, they have been emboldened. watch your backs. tomorrow will be a new day, where someone may feel that their privilege has been reaffirmed.

thank god i have dual citizenship in my mother's country just in case.

Looks like Adams is right, the Rugged man is wrong.

Trump's got Ohio, North Carolina and Florida

Leading in Wisconsin and Michigan

Super close race in Pennsylvania

Would Bernie be better?

Bernie would've been better but I think it still close. Hillary has terrible marketing skills and doesn't have great persuasive skills to back up any of her statements.

For the record, Trump is gonna win on a campaign offending nearly every minority group. How great is it to be a minority in this country right now?!

Maybe take a path like MDB and ask this again with hindsight during a Trump presidency.

For the record, Trump hasn't really attacked my minority group (that I know of), but hey we're not even into his term where he may wait to attack us Asians.

Hilary had no political platform whatsoever. None.

Let that sink in...

"Tax the rich! Raise minimum wage!" what is this- politics 101? Her entire platform sounds like it was written by a first year poli sci student on how to be a populist

Her platform was weak as **** and simply being 'someone who won't rock the boat' is a stupid strategy in the face of someone who's whole platform is shaking the establishment

Go back and watch the debates. She literally says nothing of substance, dances around questions, and deflects to something about Trump.

Her candidacy was pathetic

Bernie might not have had the fervor, but he was cut off at the knees and sabotaged by the DNC as he was picking up steam. His platform was the only one on the left that appealed to middle and lower class voters across both party lines. And, he held his own in debates and made Hilary look silly at times.

Bernie was too much of a puss to run independent, so who knows how he'd fare under pressure, but he had the strongest platform of anyone this election.

The DNC shot itself in the foot by conspiring against them and deserve everything that's coming to them

Clinton did nothing, Bush did nothing, and Obama did nothing for black people. Politicians haven't mentioned doing anything for black people for years. **** has already been as bad as its gonna get- just flip earlier in the thread to see the stats that show why

And Asians have the lowest voter turnout and have no problems with the racial economic inequality in their communities. As a group, they own and support their own businesses in damn near every metropolitan area. If anything, Trump will probably have the most reverence towards Asian communities given his massive fear of China's global economic strength

To quote most of my own black friends: "**** can always get worse for black people."

And Trump isn't exactly the most logical person out there. I wouldn't put it out of his realm to offend us.

Easy, tax Mexico import to pay for the wall.

Trump will be good for minority groups, especially blacks, because Trump's trade policy will generate more jobs for working class.

For me -personally-, from the time Bush left office, over the last 8 years my quality of life has trended upwards under the Obama Administration. Opportunities began opening up once the economy started calming down, I made some great strides. Now obviously, my own hard work, education, and ambition helped.

My issues with Obama is that I thought that Obamacare was not the way to go about trying to get everyone healthcare, I think that middle class americans are overtaxed (I dread every April because i've ended up owning the more my income goes up), and regarding minorities, I don't believe he did enough in terms of pushing for an end to the for profit prison industry and ending the war on drugs, which is the #1 detriment to minority americans in the US. That said on a personal level, I wouldn't mind 4 more years of him at the helm because I found stability.

Trump has not "attacked" black americans like he has done with Muslims and Latinos, who he absolutely degraded, but he spoke about us as a whole in a manner so insulting it made me sick. According to him, i am uneducated, poor, I don't have a job, and I am going to get shot as soon as i hit the streets. As you can imagine, being a minority you have to work hard to really prove yourself in this society, so to hear him talk about black americans as if we're all losers infuriates me. He speaks about us as we're plebs... "the african americans". "the latinos". He views non whites as separate from the rest of america...lesser thans. that's why he appealed so much to the white supremacist element. like at how he talked about everyone else.
