I wonder, with Houston low-balling DMo and the trade veto from Detroit spooking others. Assuming we trade Tyson, could we get DMo to pair with Len at the 5? DMo has been more of a 4, and could still get minutes there, but depending on the price and his health, his offensive skillset balances out well with Len.

If we moved Chandler and Tucker...

Bledsoe/Knight/Ulis
Booker/Knight
Warren/Bender
Chriss/DMo/Bender
Len/DMo

I think that gives the bench a lot more firepower and efficiency because you have a real post option. Granted, I am not sure where Dudley falls in which is why I didn't include him.

We are not trading Chandler. At least not any time soon. I mean they just released an article saying they approached him about trade offers and he said he loved the direction and the Suns and wants to stay here. And then he just dealt with a personal tragedy at the same time they released that news. He is good for our team right now. We don't really seem to have any holes for the future except potentially at PG and C, but Len has played well the last two games, and eventually Bender could probably play a bit there in small ball , but we can address both of those positions in the next 2 drafts with 3 first round picks.

I wouldn't be surprised if we keep Chandler for his entire contract and he became like a big man coach after that.

I don't known why anyone would want to trade Tyson Chander.

Maybe some have short memories but I remember a time when Suns fans everywhere were willing to give up their first born to get a half decent rebounding big man on this team. And now Tyson's 3rd in the NBA at it and helping us out big time with it when we go small to space the floor.

Defensively he's mediocre at best but his rebounding and leadership for these kids can't be replaced by anyone that will come here in a trade for him.

Leave Tyson alone.

I know you are joking, but if you disagree with his posts, post your own argument.

As for the trade, I think most would agree that would not be beneficial in the long. I'd MAYBE trade Chriss/Knight for LMA if we won 75% of our games so far, but that is not the case. I know Spurs wouldn't do that though (and I'd be 50/50 on it) and I doubt any trade with the Spurs would be feasible.

If Chandler demanded a trade by midseason than maybe we allow it just to be courteous to Tyson. Right now, I like the direction of the franchise and Chandler is a big part of it IMO.

Lol. Because he's 34, makes $13 mil a year, and the rest of the team's key players are 19-26.

Oh, I'd make that trade in a heartbeat regardless of our record. I don't want to own and drive a brand new Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita but if someone offered to trade it to me for my 2014 Venza, I'd make that deal too. And I'd turn right around and sell or trade LMA or that beautiful automobile.

I'm not giving up on Chriss by any means, it's far too early for that. But I would jump at any offer that was equal or greater than what it cost us to get him. He has huge potential but the more I see of him the more concerned I am about him ever reaching that potential. So that deal wouldn't be much more than trading Knight for LMA and I'm pretty sure even Brandon's mom would make that deal.

Of course but I can't imagine Tyson going from not wanting a trade in the summer to wanting a trade in February. Can his mind really change that much in 6 months time? This isn't a Dragic type situation where we brought in a bunch of guys to upset him/cut into his minutes plus he isn't a pending FA that needs to impress for his next contract or something like Dragic's situation either.

All good points and yet, we have to spend the money somewhere. And we'd need to replace him and even a mediocre replacement would likely cost almost as much as Tyson does. I might consider trading him if a title contender threw a sweet deal at us but even then, I'd only agree to it if Tyson also had interest.

That's fine. We need an old guy. KG last year was like 40 and ask any Minnesota fan or player if having him in that locker room wasn't a huge part of KAT, Wiggins and Lavine's development being accelerated.

Chandler is former 2nd overall pick who is an NBA champion, gold medalist, defensive player of the year, all star and all NBA First team. Plus who cares if he's 34, he's still producing, he's #3 in the NBA in rebounding.

Who cares if he's making $13M/yr? Is Steph Curry coming to the Suns to sign here next summer? No he's not and no superstar is. Why waste and overpay on some role player than keep Tyson for his rebounding and leadership? By the time the Suns are ready to contend for a championship, his contract will be expiring or close to it and we can worry about it then. For now cap space shouldn't be a concern for a team that's rebuilding.

Besides considering the contracts that guys like Mozgov, Mahimi and Plumlee have gotten, Chandler at his $13M/yr isn't that bad.

You guys think we'll have any interest in Blake Griffin over the summer? Would Griffin have any interest coming to the Suns?

No (just spent two top 10 picks on players that play the same position) and heck no (last contract during his prime, gonna want contender either stay in lac or go home to okc).

I disagree. If you can get Blake Griffin, you get Blake Griffin. I think Bender is looking more and more like a 3 and Chriss is a switchable 4 man (meaning he's looking athletic enough to not be **** outta luck switching a pick n roll). I think the center position has become over rated, and at the very least over priced. I think Blake, Bender and Chriss makes a formidable front court in the coming years with Chandler being a fine pairing short-term.
SHAZAM!

Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.

This. The San Antonio Spurs never really trade. The only one I recall is the Kawhi Leonard deal. They build through free-agency and the draft. And its because these methods do not cost assets. If you got an opportunity to sign a player like Blake, you try and give it a shot. But of course he would never sign with us to begin with so yeah.

Without a doubt. I don't think he'd choose us but we'll most def make a run at him. You get Griffin and worry about the rest after.

Yeah, I can't imagine Blake wanting to join the Suns but I really can't imagine us turning him down.

I'd rather try to sign blake than trade our top 10 pick rookie for an aging Aldridge.

2 things go entirely against this logic imo. 1. Tyson cannot possibly help us when we end up contenders. That is tied to the window of the 19-26 year olds. Tyson is simply too old and will be long retired by the time the team is a real contender.
2. We don't need a mediocre replacement. I'm not saying we should try to lose, but a lot of the stuff I read as reasons for wanting Chandler like defense and rebounding are to help us win today. Winning today is irrelevant imo. Not unless we're trying to win via Free Agency.

The only reason to keep Chandler that is truly valid imo is leadership. Either way, having him and Tucker is overkill imo. Tucker is the guy who should've been traded for 2 years or so at this point, but Chandler's real value to this team (leadership, teaching) isn't worth $13 mil imo. There are other leaders we could sign who can help us there.

I'm not saying we should be dumping Tyson, but if anybody out there offers a first and a young player, even if middling, who fits our age range we should jump at it imo.

Tucker is the priority though. He's an FA who will end up increasing his salary and doesn't have the leadership value of Tyson. He tries hard on the court, but I don't at all understand how that makes him worth keeping for this team. He needs to be a role player on a contender who needs a perimeter defender, not a young team who has a SF who is better than him already and another combo forward who defends incredibly well for his age.

All said, I can buy the logic for keeping Chandler and Dudley. Dudley signed here for the very purpose that he's serving now (be a good teammate and develop the youngsters). I cannot find that logic with Tucker. Not at all. Not when we already have Tyson and Dudley. Even so, if anybody offers something good for either we should jump. And Tyson is playing well enough and there are teams who are contending with a big enough need that I think we could get something good.

Yeah. We wanted to sign aldridge. It's entirely different to not get the benefit of his play last year and get him a year older, and also give up valuable assets to get him. Some of the posters mentioning trading up and then moving Aldridge are wrong. Aldridge's value is declining yearly because he's 31. You may not get more than Chriss for him at age 32.

I would rather trade our existing guys for picks or youngsters and try to attract a star via FA. That is the best case scenario because even if you overpay in FA you aren't giving up promising players and promising picks in the process.
