I still can't believe we have to deal with 4 years of him

Post#1 » by SaveUsKP6 » Fri Nov 11, 2016 3:20 pm

Any by him, I obviously mean Joakim Noah.

Has he had some good games? Yes, three. And the game against the Bulls was pure adrenaline, just like we knew it would be. Other than his almost triple-doubles and that Bulls game, he's been pretty dreadful. You can point me in the direction of stats that involve "per 100 possessions" for a guy who plays 20 mpg, but I don't really care.

Against Brooklyn, he came in at the end of the 2nd quarter and allowed 8 straight points in the paint. When he got benched for Willy (his 4th career game), defense and rebounding improved drastically. Didn't we get him for his defense? He's been two steps slow so far the entire season and yes, it's 7 games young, but it's not like Noah is a spring chicken that just needs to get his legs under him. It's the opposite. His legs need to be preserved. Not great.

He's a complete offensive liability. He gets the ball at the top of the key to start most possessions and yes, he's a good passer but look at how little attention opposing defenses are paying attention to him. That's partially the fault of the offensive gameplan, but that's the one we are going with. That being said, when it's a P/R heavy offense, Noah can make some things happen.

But it comes back to the years on the contract, not even the money. 4 years for a guy who was already on the decline. I don't know if Phil fell in love with the 2011 version of Noah or what, but it was odd at the time and considering the missed time in camp plus his suspect play on the floor... it's still odd.

What was your reaction after the MEM and CHI wins?

I'm not defending the deal. Love the player. Hate the contract.

Just think he's given us what I expected except for the blatant lack of rim protection. If you expected something different, I can understand the disappointment.

Uh, didn't we get him for rim protection? That's exactly what I expected. It's the only thing I expected.

Chicago fans was saying he starts off slow. traditional Big men take time to get in game shape. Remember we wanted to personally walk Robin Lopez out of New York City?

Point is im giving it some time.

funny thing about noah is that he played really well in the home opener and in the return to chicago game. those were his best games. so with motivation he can play really well. he just aint that motivated to do it all the time.

Traditionally, big men aren't as injury-prone and broken down as Noah is. You can't convince me that a guy who is always hurting is going to get BETTER with time.

I haven't been mad at the product when he's out there but yeah, we're gettin' 20 mins a game some nights which ain't worth that amount and the years are plain scary. The thing to be happy about is that KP and Willy are young, developing and should be able cheap contracts covering for his decline as it goes on. I'm hoping that his value comes in the form of mentoring those two.

He's slow on rotating im telling you guys give it some time. Even KP is slow on rotations to protect the rim right now.

KP is 21. Noah is 31, going to be 32 by midseason.

Noah is cooked. Its Year one of the deal Noah will get worst every year from here on out. There is no Peak to Noah, what we getting now is what we will get. There is no rounding into form dude is over 30. I will always say it. Noah is not that talented in basketball, He made his mark with more passion than game.

Its also a shame that he calls himself a NYer and has NO jump Shot. Since when do NYC players don't have a decent form and shot. That dude is from France man... He also lived in Hells Kitchen... I never heard of Noah Coming Uptown or to BK to play when he was in H.S.

If he did he might have more skills.

Noah has had some good moments, but he def looks like a shell of his former self. It's a shame because I always wanted him on this team in the past. As usual though we get the guy after he's been in the oven too long. Should have just rebuilt around KP, but hey Knicks gonna Knick. Got to get that 7th seed baby! However there's still enough talent on this team to do some damage if it all falls into place, so we'll see.

Nice clickbait title btw. It doesn't make sense though, since Noah is getting 4 years and The Donald is getting 8. :wordyo:

Noah still does a lot of the little things that helps the team. We have been much better with him on the court then off. If not Noah, no doubt we needed someone like him and those players are not always easy or cheap to find.

Contract wise not the greatest, but I don’t think you can look at it in a vacuum. We have Willy and KP locked up for cheap too so its not really a lot invested for a pretty decent front court.

You are severely underselling how tailor made his entire skill set (in theory) was for this roster. Excellent facilitator. Both as the assists guy and as the guy setting the play up for the guy who ends up getting the assist. Defends well in space, which is crucial in today's NBA. Was a decent shooter from 15 ft, though that's disappeared the last few years. The rim protection has been underwhelming, as I acknowledged. It's a mystery because he was still a great shot blocker last year.

Love having him here. Hate the contract. Hoping as continuity develops and roles are defined, he will live up to at least one year of that deal. And that's because of everything he brings, not just rim protection.
