I'm just trying to chill about our team

Post#1 » by theBigLip » Thu Nov 10, 2016 6:39 pm

I have high expectations this year for our Pistons. I really think we can get a top 4 seed. But right now, we don't have RJ and we're on a West Coast road trip, which is never an easy thing to do. Would have liked to get the Phoenix game, but we didn't.

That being said, I am not worried about trading KCP, or moving Ish, or freaking out. We do know Baynes will leave at the end of the year, but so what? Maybe we need him this year on our playoff run and in the playoffs and that is more valuable than trying to get some mediocre asset for him before the trade deadline.

So I'm just going to try and relax and hope RJ comes back asap and I think Stan will keep working they guys and making them better. Good things are coming our way!

Yeah. I have basically no expectations while Jackson is out. He's far too important to the team, maybe even more so than Drummond. Just take the wins as they come and don't stress too much about the losses since this current Pistons team is far from what the Pistons team in a few weeks will look like.

As much as I didn't like the Smith signing he's actually been a bit better than expected and it's not like there were any other real options at backup point guard out there. His flaws are just magnified when the Pistons need a scorer at that position, especially compared to Reggie. Vastly different players for the most part, although it's a shame you can't say the same about their defense.

Unless it's a major deal I think there is a very, very small chance of a trade happening. Detroit just doesn't need much in the way of minor or complementary pieces. Moving Baynes for a future asset (draft pick) would be nice, but at the same time if it's just a second round pick... meh. Still would like to see Boban out there more though. He could help with the scoring droughts.

The more I watch this team the more I feel Reggie Jackson is our best player over Andre. I feel like we would be a much better team if Andre was out instead of Reggie.

Team will improve after RJs been back for a while and Ish gets his actual role. I keep hoping that we can ship Baynes off for depth (whose contracts don't expire after this season) and Boban will allow us to that.

RJ really makes you guys tick. Ish isn't a bad backup but watching you guys so far this year it's just glaring to me what RJ does for the team offensively. Particularly running the pick and roll with Drummond. Ish just can't keep the defense honest on the pick and roll with that long pull up three ball.

Those expectations need to be tempered until Reggie gets back.

We're effectively "playing defense" while he's gone. We need our record to be respectable enough when he comes back that we aren't out of the hunt entirely. That's the reality.

Injuries to key players suck.

Our entire team identity last year was wrapped up in the way Reggie plays the game. He wasn't an all-star, but he was the most important player on our team last year. I do somewhat like the fact that he is out to start the year, though. It gives other guys the chance to try and step up in ways they wouldn't if Reggie were here. Hopefully it can develop their playmaking skills and allow Reggie to be more selective and efficient when he comes back.

The PG is always the most important player, which is why I was doubtful about Indiana

Never really cared about RJ missing a month because if we could keep it close we should be fine.

That same belief is still there for me

When Reggies (Bullock and Jackson) are back we are gonna be far better.

I doubt Bullock is even in the rotation when he's ready to play. Then again, Johnson hasn't exactly locked down that backup spot.

Bullock can hit 3s and the second unit need it badly.
