Another big blow for our tank. Vasquez has been cut.

Phi and Lal...one surprise team, that it...pick will be top 5.
I dont know how much talent the Suns and wolves have. I mean yeah towns/Wiggins look to be really good players and already posting all-star type numbers. but it takes alot more then just that. look at cousins/davis situations for instance. those guys put up monster numbers.
Wolves issue is that its all youth. not veterans, and thibs runs his starters into the ground, which with young guys means growing pains. especially without the vets. i think the nets bridge that talent gap between them and the wolves with the vets/experience/coaching a bit.
The wolves also i dont think are supremely talented. there are some high ceilings but currently a lot of REALLY young guys with along way to go before they start learning how to win.
The suns... i mean booker is nice. bledsoe and knight have nice numbers. but overall to me thats not some super great team. they are a dragan bender better then last year, which wasnt very good with chandler not getting younger and not much of a system or culture.
I say Minny could finish with a better record than the Nets, but not so sure about Phoenix. Neither are a lock to do it.

Nets lose tonight. We just need to be in the top 5 this year and we are in good shape.

Pretty safe bet it will be top 5.

I'm warming up to the idea of picking someone like Harry Giles if he can avoid another injury going into the draft. He strikes me as an Amare type that could have 5-6 very good years but injuries limit him afterward.
But, I also see the value in adding another guard if we decide one of Thomas and Bradley won't be resigned. As long as we get one of those top 5 guys we should be in good shape like Jaylen Brown. Getting in the Top 3 could be crucial to get one of Fultz and Allen.

Right now of all the projected bottom teams I'm not afraid of lakers or suns being worst than brooklyn.
Sacramento (I think they trade Cousins) and Miami ( if they trade Dragic) imo are teams which could finish behind Philly as bottom 3.
I'm really come this year being highly confident brooklyn pick will be top 5...top 3 if Lopez is traded.

There's a lot of parity in the East it seems. A trade or injury could really affect the standings. Some teams might be incentivized to try a rebuild. The Nets really should be trying to as well but you never know with this owner. Dragic being traded wouldn't necessarily signal a rebuild for MIA as Johnson could be a potential upgrade and the trade might bring a piece that might improve them. They have a decent roster and I can't see them being worse than NJ.

A lot of things can change but the only team I really see challenging the Nets at this point for worst record is the Sixers. The Pelicans get Jrue Holiday back next week and Tyreke Evans back soon as well.

The following 10 games will be a test for the Nets.
Nets will go on a west coast trip to phx (11/12) then @Clippers (11/14) @Lakers (11/15) b2b before a pit stop @ OKC. The 2 home games after that are against PDX and Boston. They play Sacramento at home on (11/27) . Games against PHX, LAL and SAC are crucial for lottery odds down the road.

I dunno about that, I could see Orlando being very bad if they don't sort out that roster, then there's the potentially poorly coached teams like Phoenix and the Pelicans. The Pelicans are just never healthy as well so I don't know how long they can rely on players like Tyreke, Holliday and even AD

Brooklyn Nets pick watch 2016-17 thread
What are people's thoughts on this so far? Can we make this a sticky thread?
Looks like the Pelicans get Holiday back next game which is what our Nets pick desperately needs.
Right now the only single team that is certainly worse than the Nets is the 76ers again, and that's just because the 76ers roster is raw. It's unfortunate that Ben Simmons went down early because he'd probably get them 6 or 7 more wins just with his skillset.
Other than that, I am almost 100% certain they'll be bottom five.
The Wizards, Kings, Suns, Wolves all have more talent and are trying to win games this year. The Heat are close to the Nets, but with Dragic, Johnson and Whiteside and Winslow I think they'll get a few more wins than the Nets.
Jrue Holiday averaged 17 points 7 assists and 5 rebounds last year for the Pelicans and he'll probably help an extra 8-12 wins for them on their current status. Losing Lance hurts them but Holiday coming back is a far greater gain.
Is there really any team with less talent than the Nets?

The Heat and Magic are close to the Nets, but with Dragic, Johnson and Whiteside and Winslow I think Miami get a few more wins than the Nets. The Magic have the talent and they have a solid coach. Vucevic, Ibaka, Gordon, Elfrid are a better core than the Nets dumpster and again, should end up with at least 5-8 more wins.
Jrue Holiday averaged 17 points 7 assists and 5 rebounds last year for the Pelicans and he'll probably help an extra 8-12 wins for them on their current status. Losing Lance hurts them but Holiday coming back is a far greater gain.

I think you guys are underrating the fact the Nets dont have to lose while there are a few teams eager to lose.. I don't see BKN as a lock for bottom 5. Possible, but not a lock at all.

People have said they thought this last year as well but that didn't stop them from losing. But of course that team looks so much different from G.M. down to the D-League. I'm just hoping they have a fire sale and embrace the rebuild
