Jets 2016 Season Discussion Thread (Next: Week 17)

Post#1 » by zilby » Sat Oct 15, 2016 4:48 pm

Not enough traffic on this board to warrant a new thread every week, so we may as well put it all in one place. Sigh. 1-4 is not fun.

...I'm ready to start Hackenberg...let's lose out and spend all of our day one picks on offense (unless we're adding an LB or an absolute shut down corner). We need to strengthen the O-Line, need an RB, still need a QB unless Petty surprises....maybe Marshall can be dealt to a playoff team for some modicum of compensation. Not even sure since I don't know what his contract looks like.

I would fully expect Marshall to be traded at the deadline. He's got $9.5M on the books this year and $7.5M next year, and for what you get out of Marsh that's pretty darn good, given his salary goes down next year.. I'd expect a team like the Ravens or Steelers to be interested given their severe lack of receiving options at the moment (aside from AB).

Either way, at the moment this team sucks. The Fitzpatrick negotiations seem to have been a huge blunder in hindsight, and I don't think realistically many people expected him to have the career year he did last year again. Granted, I also didn't see him being this terrible. I'm sure you guys know we're starting Geno this week, but that's not really the right move either. I think Geno has cemented himself as an NFL flameout and it's time to start looking to Petty and Hack and see what they're capable of for next year. Time to tank.

I think Petty only got cleared to practice this week. My guess is that they'll let Geno have his shot for a few weeks while they prep Bryce for the role and if Geno really looks awful Bowles will rush to give Fitzpatrick one last chance...he's weirdly attached.

I fully expect Petty to be our starting QB the last few weeks of the season at minimum though.

Fitzy's benching lasted a grand total of 23 minutes.

And this team has a stupid knack for winning when it's not supposed to.

I could see a win this week creating a bit of renewed interest in the team at least as having some momentum. But the way they've played so far doesn't really have me particularly excited.

Nope. Time to tank.

And it's on. Bryce Petty starting today.

Losing to the Rams really is a low point.
