Run D seems to be a lot better today.

Dorsey started at NT and Armstead isn't playing. That helps. Veldheer also out for Zona.

This is the first time I'm rooting for draft position in awhile. Seems whatever I root for goes to die

9ers played well overall. If they keep playing like this they may win a couple more games, and lose a few spots of draft position.

Buckner looks like he's coming into his own. He's still not nearly as good as he's going to be IMO, but he at least looks like he's making progress.

I thought there would've been more of an impact in his rookie year, i overestimated him with that.

With that said, yr 2 should see some quality play. If not, then we know what we got.

If the Niners can show some competitive games great, but I wouldn't want them to screw up the draft positions.

I agree. Buckner looked very good. And it also makes you wonder, should Arik Armstead be a part time player, coming in on passing downs? The run D was way better yesterday without him, and with a REAL NT in Dorsey. I hate to say that about a 1st rounder, but he is a liability in the running game. It was nice to see Eli Harold finally get his first sack, albeit it was a coverage sack. I was disappointed in Jimmie Ward's play. I would still extend him in the offseason and move him to FS and let Reid walk. Ward and Tartt should be our safeties. We have plenty of CBs on the roster so we should move Ward to his more natural position.

I think a pretty big reason the rush defense looked good this week was because Arizon's oline isn't good anymore. They lost their LT Veldheer two games ago. DJ ran for 24 yards and 55 yards in those two games since.

Pretty hard to gauge Armstead this year. That shoulder has been an issue since Training Camp. Probably would have been better for him to have surgery earlier than trying to play on it.

Armstead should be okay. The defense was struggling adapting to the new system in the beginning of the year, Armstead was playing with one arm, and we've been working with a backup NG, and patchwork ILB's after Bowman went down. Really a perfect storm. For next year getting a solid at NG back, getting Bowman back, and upgrading the other ILB spot should hopefully get things back to non-vomit status.

I hear you guys, maybe I just overreacted on Armstead....What about the corners? 3 of them are going to be free agents after the 2017 season - Brock, Reaser, and Johnson. That leaves Ward, Robinson, and Redmond, plus Iworah who is unproven. And if they move Ward to S, that complicates things even more. I don't want to be drafting corners again in 2017 LOL....Maybe they extend Reaser or Johnson by 3 years? I think they can fill in no problem should there be an injury to a starter. What do you guys think?

I'm not really concerned with the DB's tbh. It's the one area where Baalke has been able to work his formula successfully. The DB's main issue is no consistent pass rush. This defense is somewhat reminiscent of the D that was in place roughly two or three years before Aldon came in and changed everything. Not talent wise, but foundation-wise this team does have something to work with. However, this offensive system will continue to put pressure on the defense though no matter how talented it becomes, especially when the offense can speed up to where Chip wants to get it.

I wouldn't think Reaser or Johnson would command much money as both are backups. I don't know what to make of either one in terms of how well they are playing. The 49ers have so much cap carryover, I would think these guys would hardly make a dent

Not to go unnoticed but would like to know if the NFL will admit fault here...
