I'm not sure how anyone could have watched the 1st nine games of this season and believe that this team isn't trying to win games.
they aren't going to sacrifice player health and player development to do so, which is fine by me, but best believe they are out there to win.
I don't want to see Lopez run into the ground. I want to see him be healthy all year and active, and if that means resting him on back to backs and having a minutes cap for him early on, so be it.

I do feel that if Brooklyn keep their current pace of winning, the restriction on Lopez will be removed and that will be the strongest sign that they are adjusting their previous expectation and goal for this team.
My sense is they probably felt that this team would not win much thus publically telling everyone this will be a "devlopment/rebuilding" year....This is exactly how I take the "development" rhetoric..It's just a way to bring down expectation and if they truly wanted to do real development, McCollough, Whitehead, Yogi would be much higher on the depht chart from the start
This is how you bring down all expectation...But it could be Marks/Kenny under-estimated this team strenght, so keep in eye on Lopez's minutes because it will prove that they indeed underestimated this team strength and are re-adjusting their priority.
Lopez minutes restriction is based on the expectation that he will be traded come trading dead-line....If you don't expect your team to win many games and your best player is already in his prime, it makes sense to trade him for draft-picks so to advance your rebuilding/development process.
I strongly don't believe they are restricting Lopez minutes so to keep him fresh to help them win games...Marks have fielded calls for a Lopez trade and everyone expect Lopez to be traded which would take the "development/rebuilding" theory into full motion...Lopez minutes restriction is based on keeping him healthy to trade him for draft picks.
BUT BUT....If this team continues to win, it will be impossible to trade your best player which is Lopez since it will sent the fan-base the wrong message, specially if Lopez is leading the way on a stronger than expected Brooklyn Nets... And the Russian owner still has to sell tickets to fill in his new Arena....At that point, not trading Lopez will somewhat diminish the "development/rebuild" process since you need draft-picks to go full steam ahead with it
So again, keep an eye on Lopez's minutes and if Nets continues to win games, I expect Lopez to go back to his 30-32 minutes per game.
I will also expect Marks to publicly come out with a statement claiming they never thought about trading Lopez and he's part of the future..LOL.....No Marks, you can't trade Lopez because the team is in a playoff hunt..If this team was out of the playoff, Lopez would be a goner.
I predict Brooklyn makes the playoff....I predict Lopez goes back to playing 30minute per game.....I predict Kenny wins coach of the year since low expectation was unexpectedly shattered by even Kenny/Marks and long time Nets fan, Prokorov..
LET'S GO NETS!

Why would you change something if its working? what sense does that make. part of why lopez is playing so well is because he isnt fatigued all the time like last year, which clearly effects his aggressiveness and overall play

you dont develop well by just throwing young guys out there and seeing what happens. its critical to mix in vets so the young guys dont need to should too much which can lead to bad habits.

bring down expectations? we were predicted to win 20 games with fans being doom and gloom. nothing need to be "brought down"

Look, you can continue with the consipiracy theory that this team is secretly trying to trade lopez but also secret trying to make winning now a priority and this development stuff is all a lie by marks to lower fans expectations... but that doesnt really hold much water
