Undeniable.

But I think Khabib is his daddy.

Khabib was built in a lab to beat Conor. He should not be in any hurry to take that fight.

I'd be surprised if the UFC makes that match.

That would just feel like a "normal" fight. I just don't think they would make it. It would be his hardest fight, but also the fight that would generate the least interest. IDK if they go that route. I have a hard time seeing him fighting random everyday contenders like Ferguson or Khabib or Holloway. I just do.

Conor probably would have fought RDA if he would have won. Or maybe GSP is still on the table? Aldo is probably another option. Nate is an option. I could also see Edgar being on the table, his name is big. Pettis would probably be possible if he beats Holloway in spectacular fashion somehow. Guys with name value who Conor could get up for.

Only with Conor does a champion fighting the #1 contender seem unthinkable. And now we have to deal with it in two weight classes. I don't think you can blame fan interest for avoiding the Khabib fight. The UFC has plenty to work with there if they really wanted to, but they aren't going to send their cash cow into a meat grinder.

Conor is smart, so I do believe he'll let the LW division settle itself up top with Ferg and Khabib finally squaring off. Especially with Ferg wanting to be an active fighter, and Khabib coming off such a lay off. #1 contender match and then he'll be forced to defend the LW strap against whomever emerges.

Listening to his post fight presser was really interesting though.. he has so many options to pursue at the moment and whatever he chooses will easily do 1m+ in PPVs regardless of the opponent. You've got GSP(super fight), rd 3 vs Diaz for LW title, #1 LW contenders - Khabib or Ferg, #1 FW contenders - Aldo or Holloway/Pettis, moving up to WW to face Woodley/Thompson, fight Mayweather in boxing, film some movies... I mean it really is endless for my man!

A showdown between McGregor and Pettis or Cerrone would be fantastic match-up to see though.

I was just reading this thread and early on I was talking about how bad a matchup Cub Swanson is for Conor.

haha.

Like two pages later I'm talking about how I think RDA has a good chance of beating Conor but probably wouldn't finish him.

He hasn't been forced to do anything for a while now.

I think the LW division will play out totally different than what he has been doing to the FW division. It is his ideal weight class and if he wishes to continue his UFC career, than he is going to have to start fighting the contenders there. Not to mention he has only faced 2 LW's as opposed to the Fw division where he cleared it out minus Edgar, (who lost to Aldo) Lamas(who lost to Max and the resurging Holloway (whom he beat prior to his recent run).

I love watching Conor and I truly feel he's above belts. To me, as much as I want to see him defend against Khabib, I just don't feel like he "needs" to. I know it holds up both decisions but what he's doing out there is absolutely amazing and I want to see more amazing things, even if it doesn't make sense from a competition standpoint. I want to see go for the WW belt. He'd probably get beat but that's what I want to see even if it makes zero sense.

That what I mean by I think he's above defending his belts. It's his job to defend his belts but I'd rather see him make history because he's the only one seemingly capable of doing so.

I think Khabib's thought is that the ufc didn't give him a presser last night because they are NOT going to set that fight up.

I don't necessarily agree Conor is above the belts but I think he and the ufc believe it. I could still see him fighting GSP next.

I do think Conor is above the belt and the reason why I say this is because only a few people would be interested in seeing him defend his FW belt despite there being an interim champion down there since July. There are likely more interest in seeing him take on the contenders at LW but I think most people want to see Conor do the crazy things. Don't get me wrong I think Ferguson and Khabib and Aldo are all super deserving of a bout against the Conor but I'd prefer seeing the freak fights at 170 just to see if he can do it. I don't know if fans would prefer for Conor to just defend his belt or whether they prefer to see a challenge no one has ever seen, Conor going for that third belt. I know which camp I'm in.

I personally find it a bit unfair that he gets to hold two belts "hostage" while he goes around doing whatever he wants.

I biased though since I'm a Khabib fan and Conor is too chicken to fight him.

I really don't think he's scared. I think Conor thinks he can beat any man. I think he's wrong, but I don't think you get to where he is without that supreme confidence.

Personally I think if Thompson won the belt over Woodley he'd be more inclined to do so. Woodley is just soo friggen big that I think his wrestling will wear on Conor with all the extra weight he has on him.
